If the Sox win one more game before the break, that’s the winning percentage and percentage of the entire season played that they’ll reach at the ASB. If they win both, they’ll also get 60 wins (but given the matchups, even one win in the next two would be slightly surprising). They have guaranteed themselves the best AL record at the break (3 GA of second place, which happens to be the team they’re playing this weekend, and they are percentage points behind the Cardinals for winningest MLB record).
But today is mostly about staying a good distance ahead of the Rays as they continue to throttle crappy teams. Jon Lester (the de facto #5 starter) is facing A.J. Griffin. Maybe Jon can not lay an egg this time? But he probably will. Still, comment away!
