Trainspotting

After opening the pages of Amtrak’s in-train magazine “Arrive”, on my way back to the big city from Providence, I shot right to the cover story on Curt Schilling. I stopped reading about four paragraphs in, at the moment the writer put this piece of revisionist history into print:

“…owner Harry Frazee sold Babe Ruth, a.k.a. The Bambino, to the Yankees after the 1919 season. Ruth went on to become baseball’s greatest slugger, and the Yankees the greatest dynasty in sport. The Red Sox, meanwhile, have not won a World Series since 1918 nor a pennant since 1946.”

Talk about a really terrible curse – now us Sox fans are even being denied our legitimately won pennants from ’67, ’75, and ’86!
