All in the Family

Exaggerated attendance numbers? Check. Behind on your electric bills?  Check.  Sewer tabs not paid? Check.  Three years behind on payments to the city?  Check.  Currently owe a half a mill to the local comptroller? Check. Part of the Yankees family?  Most definitely, check.

  • Who’d have known there was a team playing in Staten Island? The Hudson Valley Renegades (Tampa Bay NY-Penn league afilliate) have a bigger following than the SI Yankees and they are 65 miles outside NYC. It’s suprising the SIYankee’s don’t draw a much bigger crowd, though I imagine it would be hard to get people to travel to SI for single-A ball. Have any of you even been to Staten Island? It’s built on a trash heap from what I understand. Don’t you have to take a ferry to get there? Wait, thats where the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge goes isn’t it? Either way SF, nice job trying to project these issues onto the Yankees. Maybe when they buy the other 51% interest in the team from the current owners this article would make sense on this site, but as of now it just looks like you are taking all the pot shots at the NYYankees while you can.

  • I was just hoping people wouldn’t get to the end of the article, NYYFiB. ;)
Steinbrenner’s kid somehow was somehow convinced to buy 49% of the team, enough to make him look important but not enough to give him any say – I guess you get what you pay for. What was it PT Barnum once said?
