And Down the Stretch They Come: Yanks-Jays Gamer

Ivan Nova is coming off his worst – or at least, shortest – start in the majors and needs to show the Yanks something.  With a week to go the Yanks may win the division, may clinch the best record in the AL and homefield throughout, may end up in a one-game wild-card playoff, or could miss the playoffs altogether.  For now, they focus on beating Brandon Morrow and the Blue Jays and adding a half-game to their lead over the idle O’s.

Not sure if there will be a Gardner, A-Rod, or Teixeira siting tonight, but first pitch is in 60 seconds so we’ll find out soon enough.  Comment away…

  • So if they win today they’re one back of the Rangers for the best record with the Rangers facing six final games against the Angels and A’s while the Yanks will play their final 6 vs. Toronto and Boston. And since they own the season series vs. Texas all they need is to end even with them. I think it’s a big deal this year given that they’d end up playing the winner of a one-game playoff that will likely be without their ace rather than having to face Verlander and the Tigers in a short series. Obviously they gotta get in first and you can’t get greedy, but it sure would be nice to catch Texas in the last few days here…

  • Martin doubles down the line with two outs in the second and Gomes pulls up inexplicably just a few feet from catching it. May have lost it in the lights. Or may simply feel sleepy tonight. Come on – get on the board early fellas…

  • There is no way a Championship-level team loses this game.

Give the O’s back another pathetic loss?

    Unacceptable? Yes.

    Completely expected? Of course.

This is no Championship team. We all know that.

  • Turn on the game in time to see Ibanez hit into a double play to end the Yankee fifth. Bartender…

  • Andrew Feinsand, Waldman, and Sterling talking about how lost A-Rod has looked at the plate even before he got hurt. Ugh.

  • 2-run double. Yanks getting pounded by what is really a pretty bad team with plenty of good players on the DL. I actually have free time to watch this tonight but don’t think I can stand this.

  • Football is on…I turned it off at 0-2. You can tell when this team doesn’t give a shit. Which is pretty much every big game the last 2 years…
