Another Day, Another Chance to Win a Series: Nats-Sox Gamer II

The Sox look to go 3 for 3 on the young season, as they have won series against the Phillies and Yankees and look to win one against the Nationals. Mookie Betts exploded yesterday in the first two innings, robbing a Harper homer, stealing two bases in one go (when the shift on Papi let him run for 3rd when the pitcher didn’t cover), and homering into the Monster seats. That was fun, but the season is young. Your hurlers today are Strasburg and Masterson. Starts at 6:10 Eastern.

  • Two get on (0-out single, 2-out BB), but Masterson strikes Robinson out to end the top of the 1st, no score.

  • Pedroia and Papi reach, but our prized offseason acquisitions can do nothing with the opportunity.

Masterson lets 2 on with 1 out, gets another out at 3rd on an attempted steal, but hangs a sinker to the 9-hole hitter, who singles, driving in a run, then steals 2nd. Then he retires Escobar. 1-0 Nats after 1.5.

  • Got it back and then some! Leadoff single by Napoli, then a 2-out single by BROCKHOLT. Mookie doubles and they both come in to score. 2-1 Sox wooooooo!

  • Hell of a game. Up 5-1, down 7-5, up 8-7 with a WSH runner at 2nd in the 8th and 2 out. And finally, finally: Koji.

This is exhibit A in the “they’re gonna win/lose some high-scoring games”.
