Around the Horn: Sunday Morning Media (Old and New!) Roundup

  • Rotoworld indicates Curt Schilling won’t be back for almost another month, if that.  Things are seemingly much worse than initially thought.  Bad news for the Sox, whose bullpen may end up looking like Lindsay Lohan’s Mercedes, if the starting staff isn’t reinforced.
  • Kevin Youkilis’ quad injury isn’t just an annoyance. His pinch-hit appearance last night notwithstanding, he apparently won’t be playing today.
  • Reggie Jackson feels betrayed by the ESPN drama "The Bronx is Burning".  Here’s our best impression of th sounds of the firetrucks from that summer, just for Reggie: waaaaaaaaaaah.
  • Darryl Strawberry has the nerve to chime in on Alex Rodriguez’ responsibility to the Yankee (and A-Rod’s own) "legacy" in a column from Joel Sherman.  Puh-leeze.
  • River Ave. Blues with a nice piece on the Cape Cod League and Yankees’ prospects participating there.
  • Jayson Stark hands out some awards.  Julio Lugo is his AL LVP, and Stark cites an interesting fact: Lugo was only the third player in 44 seasons to hit under .100 in calendar month (Stark doesn’t say the minimum at-bats to qualify, but the stat is still nauseating).

  • I think well be fine for another month with C.Schilling out. Beside he needs the rest. Althouh he is a great player we also have a great team and beacause we are a great team will can hold our own until he returns.

  • Rotoworld just copied from yesterday’s Globe. Again: Paging Mark Buehrle…

  • Rotoworld added some commentary, Paul – the Globe item was inconsequential.

  • Strawberry can say whatever he wants. This is all about the First Amendment. Let’s not follow the gov’t down the path of censorship. After all, censorship is becoming America’s favorite past-time. The US gov’t (and their corporate friends), already detain protesters, ban books like “America Deceived” from Amazon and Wikipedia, shut down Imus, stifle Ron Paul and fire 21-year tenured, BYU physics professor Steven Jones because he proved explosives, thermite in particular, took down the WTC buildings. Free Speech forever (even for the cokehead Strawberry).
Last link (before Stark County District Library caves to pressure and drops the title):
