  • Hanging curveball makes it 2-0. Bah.

    Atheose August 2, 2008, 7:14 pm
  • It’s amazing Lester gets out of that inning with no more runs scored. Double-play’s a pitcher’s best friend!

    Atheose August 2, 2008, 7:18 pm
  • Pedroia is amazing. Singles to left field.

    Atheose August 2, 2008, 7:21 pm
  • YOUK TIES IT!

    Atheose August 2, 2008, 7:22 pm
  • YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUK!

    lone1c August 2, 2008, 7:23 pm
  • And now Ortiz! Could we please keep this going?

    lone1c August 2, 2008, 7:25 pm
  • Four straight hits for the Sox… keep it going Bay!

    Atheose August 2, 2008, 7:26 pm
  • JASON BAY HOMERS! FUCK YES!

    Atheose August 2, 2008, 7:28 pm
  • Hmm–I wonder what the Sox fans think of the new guy now? :-)
    Awesome!

    lone1c August 2, 2008, 7:28 pm
  • Jason Bay! Welcome to Boston!

    Bostondreams August 2, 2008, 7:29 pm
  • Quick question: Maybe I have missed too many games on the radio, but where is Joe Castigolone? Shoot, I’m still missing Ken Coleman!

    Bostondreams August 2, 2008, 7:31 pm
  • No idea Bostondreams, I use mlb.tv

    Atheose August 2, 2008, 7:32 pm
  • I came in a little late but I guess Joe C. just has the night off. He’ll be back.

pale blue eyes August 2, 2008, 7:38 pm
  • Guess its a rotation now, Atheose. Too bad. I like him alot. His 04 call is my cell phone ring. :)
And XM radio is a wonderful thing.

    Bostondreams August 2, 2008, 7:38 pm
  • Can someone who knows more about such things explain to me why Varitek is batting ahead of Coco? Not complaining, just don’t get it.

    rootbeerfloat August 2, 2008, 7:42 pm
  • Lester getting squeezed.

    Atheose August 2, 2008, 7:44 pm
  • They want someone with speed in the 9-spot, RBF. They’re essentially using the #9 spot as another lead-off type of hitter; if he gets on base he can probably steal 2nd, putting him in scoring position for Pedroia or Youk, both of whom are awesome.

    Atheose August 2, 2008, 7:45 pm
  • Makes sense, Ath. Thanks.

    rootbeerfloat August 2, 2008, 7:47 pm
  • Wow horrible call by the ump, Pedroia looked VERY safe.
Replay shows the throw beat him by about 2 inches. Wow.

    Atheose August 2, 2008, 7:50 pm
  • Even the A’s announcers are saying it was a bad call.

    rootbeerfloat August 2, 2008, 7:51 pm
  • It’s comforting to know there are other announcers out there that aren’t totally biased, RBF. I like the Arizona announcers too.

    Atheose August 2, 2008, 7:56 pm
  • Hey, great play by Lowell on a shot down the line!

    Atheose August 2, 2008, 7:56 pm
  • Joe’s daughter is getting married this weekend, so Dale’s in through KC. Ken is watching the game with Ned Martin. Mercy.

    I'mBillMcNeal August 2, 2008, 7:57 pm
  • Jason Bay. That’s fairytale stuff, man.

    I'mBillMcNeal August 2, 2008, 7:58 pm
  • I confess, I like Frank Thomas enough that he can get hits all day, as long as the A’s lose.

    rootbeerfloat August 2, 2008, 8:02 pm
  • RBF, he took more abuse from Jay Mariotti while he was here with the WSox than any man should. Manny thinks he had it bad from Shanks. Not even close.

    I'mBillMcNeal August 2, 2008, 8:06 pm
  • IBM – What was the beef with him?

    rootbeerfloat August 2, 2008, 8:07 pm
  • I love the Big Hurt, he got ripped on more than he deserved. He’s also on my fantasy team, so yeah, hit away Frankie.
Lowell doubles, even though Gameday says it’s a strikeout. Silly Gameday.

    Atheose August 2, 2008, 8:08 pm
  • Gameday has Lowell w/a K. WTF?

    I'mBillMcNeal August 2, 2008, 8:08 pm
  • I’ll be the first to say it: Jason Bay’s awesomeness gives me a hard-on.

    Atheose August 2, 2008, 8:09 pm
  • Did the batter before Lowell strike out? Sometimes Gameday updates the batter but leaves the pitch sequence from the previous guy up too long.

    rootbeerfloat August 2, 2008, 8:11 pm
  • Did you guys see Bay’s press conference introducing him? He mentioned that people he’d never seen before were helping him with his luggage.

    rootbeerfloat August 2, 2008, 8:12 pm
  • Woo-hoo. Go Jed!

    lone1c August 2, 2008, 8:12 pm
  • Jed f*cking Lowrie!

    Atheose August 2, 2008, 8:13 pm
  • Aww! Come on A’s! Let Eveland stay another inning or two–please?

    lone1c August 2, 2008, 8:14 pm
  • Bay has an OPS of 2.500 since coming to Boston (small sample sizes be damned!), with 4 runs scored and 3 RBI.

    Atheose August 2, 2008, 8:14 pm
  • Wow, you know it’s a bad night when even Varitek doubles. Coco drills one to the 3B but he makes a great play, denying everyone here a “God bless Coco!” moment.

    Atheose August 2, 2008, 8:17 pm
  • The A’s announcers are saying that Lowell is playing on a bad hip – any word on that from the Boston guys?

    rootbeerfloat August 2, 2008, 8:27 pm
  • RBF–Remy’s definitely mentioned it tonight (in reference to him trying to stretch his single to a double in the 3rd).

    lone1c August 2, 2008, 8:27 pm
  • RBF, I don’t know. Mariotti nicknamed him the Big Skirt, claimed he wasn’t tough or something. But Mariotti is rarely accountable for his words. He hasn’t been in a lockerroom in I don’t know how long.

    I'mBillMcNeal August 2, 2008, 8:29 pm
  • Note to Oakland: The shift against Ortiz doesn’t work when you walk him.

    lone1c August 2, 2008, 8:30 pm
  • Great–we’ve lost Remy and Orsillo for the night, and it’s only the top of the fifth.

    lone1c August 2, 2008, 8:37 pm
  • How do you lose Remy and Orsillo? Foul ball to the booth?

    rootbeerfloat August 2, 2008, 8:43 pm
  • Do you mean the fact that Remy and DO are talking about stuff unrelated to baseball? Yeah they do that sometimes when it’s a blowout.
    Lester K’s Thomas. Woohoo.

    Atheose August 2, 2008, 8:51 pm
  • How hard is it raining? The Oakland guys are talking about it but we Californians are kind of wimpy about rain.

    rootbeerfloat August 2, 2008, 8:56 pm
  • Was there some sort of fight during the game that I missed? A friend called me and said there was a fight mid-game.

    Atheose August 2, 2008, 10:13 pm
  • For the record, Manny went deep in the first inning tonight too….

    Sam-YF August 3, 2008, 12:16 am
  • I was at the game. Only light rain fell, and only for a few minutes. I do not recall seeing any kind of fight.

    Ron Newman August 3, 2008, 12:16 am
  • Manny Mota?

    I'mBillMcNeal August 3, 2008, 12:40 am
  • Manny alexander

    Sam-YF August 3, 2008, 12:41 am
  • sox look rejuvenated…someone will surely tell me that i can’t actually “see” rejuvenation, but the change seems to be doing the sox some good…

    dc August 3, 2008, 8:22 am
  • So does playing the Athletics, dc. No doubt they seem looser, but is it winning, no Manny, or mostly the former and a little of the latter?
