Attrition: Sox-Jays Gamer VI

The Red Sox swept the Jays in the recent series at Fenway, outscoring Toronto 15-5. Boston sends Jon Lester to the bump this afternoon at the hands of said same blue birds at the Rogers Centre. Recently reactivated rookie Ricky Romero (say that fast…) tries to bounce back from his last outing, a dismal return to action against the O’s after healing a strained oblique. Lineups follow, comment away.

I get back from the pool to see Ellsbury single on an 0-2 count. Great success. And then Green walks.
Woah woah, lineup? That’s a crazy lineup there. I liked Ellsbury leading off.

Lester looking like a typical strikeout pitcher: 4 K’s, 2 BB’s. His stuff is electric today.

Great play by Green to get the lead runner there. Tons of ranger to his right.

Lester still looking very good, though the dreaded 5th inning is coming up next.

Two quick strikeouts, then Hill walks on a pitch that was a strike. He’s been getting some close calls though so it’s okay.
His command is such that he shouldn’t have any trouble here. He’s ahead 0-2 to Rios now.

Lester strikes out the side, 10 K’s through 5. Last 6 outs have all been strikeouts. Fan-fucking-tastic.

Lester looking absolutely great. Pitch count will drive him out an inning earlier than one would like, but…sooooo good.

Lester with two more strikeouts to end the 6th. I’m assuming he’s done; 115 pitches, 12 K’s, and a WHIP of 1.000. And eight of his last 9 outs were strikeouts. Beautiful.

Lowell with a 10-pitch at-bat before doubling. His range isn’t as good defensively, but he’s still a great hitter.

Fun fact that DO just said: all three hits Lester gave up were infield hits.

The sacrifice run is looking hilarious in the face of the two homers immediately following.

OMG, I just realized what the lineup is. I heart these lineup choices so much. Sorry, Ath.

Okay. 3-4 on the road trip. Not good, but not abysmal.
Good funk-breaking effort for Lester, the offense, and RamRam (coming off last night’s outing easily his worst).
