    TJ May 6, 2007, 2:58 pm
  • ??? He had a double yesterday.

    desturbd1 May 6, 2007, 3:02 pm
  • Thanks, YF.
I’m watching these games on Gameday. Does Pedroia look more balanced, or is he still swinging from his tip toes?
    I hope he gets hot.

    Tyrel SF May 6, 2007, 3:05 pm
  • Pedroia’s on a f*cking tear. Great 0-2 hitter…Crisp, on the other hand, should NOT be batting f*cking leadoff today. God dammit.

    desturbd1 May 6, 2007, 3:06 pm
  • This is the Pedroia everyone expected…2-2 yesterday with a walk, 2-2 today already.
tito ur a frigging idiot pinch hitting for him yesterday
    1 and 2 2out

    TJ May 6, 2007, 3:06 pm
  • HE did have a double yesterday, but what I meant was he coulda had that double when Cora pinch hit for him.
    Tito been an idiot lately.

    TJ May 6, 2007, 3:08 pm
  • I don’t think Pedroia ever really looked THAT uncomfortable, but he definitely looks good now. Two hits today were no cheapos, that’s for sure.

    desturbd1 May 6, 2007, 3:08 pm
  • That was an AWFUL pitch by Schilling, supposed to be down and away and it ended up belt-high over the middle. Morneau hits it so hard it bounces off the baggy and Drew gets it in to hold him for a single.

    desturbd1 May 6, 2007, 3:09 pm
  • Temporarily hom eon my lunch break.
Nice to see that Pedroia’s starting to heat up. We’ll make a ballplayer of him yet!

  • We just signed Clemens, na na na na poo poo!

    Jordan Meisner May 6, 2007, 3:20 pm
  • BREAKING NEWS: The Yankees have just added another 5-inning pitcher.

  • to bill, charter member of “rationalization nation”: i’ll take 5 innings of shutout ball any time

    dc May 6, 2007, 3:29 pm
  • dPod!!!!!!

    TJ May 6, 2007, 3:42 pm
  • Whatever. The Yankees are better now, for sure, but I ain’t exactly shaking with fear. We shall see.

    Devine May 6, 2007, 3:43 pm
  • 3-3 2 doubles 6-6 in his last 6 official at bats

    TJ May 6, 2007, 3:43 pm
  • “to bill, charter member of “rationalization nation”: i’ll take 5 innings of shutout ball any time”
dc, Ambassador for Hallucination Nation, Roger threw 5 shutout innings ONCE last year. Versus the Brewers.

  • D-Pod indeed.

    Tyrel SF May 6, 2007, 3:49 pm
  • What just happened? Cora out at 2nd on a flyout with a runner who could have scored from 3rd? Is he nuts? Was there a play on or something?

    Devine May 6, 2007, 3:54 pm
  • I was on the phone and missed the inning, so I dunno what happened with the flyout. But yes, it certainly appears that Cora f*cked up pretty badly, robbing Papi of a sac-fly.

    desturbd1 May 6, 2007, 4:04 pm
  • Hahahahaaha, Manny and Tavarez are sitting together on the end of the bench in the dugout. Manny’s got his arm around him, and for some reason keeps petting the top of his head. Orsillo and Remy can’t breathe.

  • $28 million contract. The Yankees are fking NUTS

    TJ May 6, 2007, 4:21 pm
  • Here’s why this doesn’t kill us: Roger w/NYY is a No.3. Roger w/RS is a No.5.
Also, contract w/NYY not an issue. It would have taken a bit of a bite on our end.
And we don’t need another big ego in the clubhouse. Schill’s is big enough.

    I'm Bill McNeal May 6, 2007, 4:23 pm
  • Time to get the #21 urinal cakes out for the toilets again.

    Rob May 6, 2007, 4:24 pm
  • $28 million?
Only GS can afford it. Or would pay it.
    He got a 5-inning pitcher.
    Wow, though.

    I'm Bill McNeal May 6, 2007, 4:25 pm
  • Clemens can’t finish the 7th. F*cking A, I’ve got a bad feeling about this even if Oki has been great thus far.
Can’t watch the game anymore because mlb.tv won’t work–buffering, buffering, buffering–Schilling get hit hard in the 7th or just blooped and grounded to death?

    desturbd1 May 6, 2007, 4:26 pm
  • Would Henry have paid that?

    I'm Bill McNeal May 6, 2007, 4:27 pm
  • What’d I f*cking say…pulling him was not the right move.

    desturbd1 May 6, 2007, 4:28 pm
  • Small liners through gaps D1

    Rob May 6, 2007, 4:29 pm
  • Morneau retired by Oki..

    Rob May 6, 2007, 4:30 pm
  • And a great start turns “meh” against a depleted Minnesota lineup. Damn.
I’d be angry about Boston’s managing only 4 runs against arguably the worst starting pitcher in the American League, but the lineup wasn’t exactly optimal. And Perkins is good. Hopefully they manage to pull it out.

    desturbd1 May 6, 2007, 4:32 pm
  • That was scary.

    Devine May 6, 2007, 4:34 pm
  • not feeling so great about this game.

    minomni SF May 6, 2007, 4:43 pm
  • With tonight’s 3/4 game, Pedroia raised his line from .206/.333/.270 to .239/.354/.328. A .682 OPS still isn’t exactly fantastic, but I’ll take the .354 OBP from a rookie 2B any day of the week. Gets the average in the .260’s, and that numbers closer to .400.

    desturbd1 May 6, 2007, 4:43 pm
  • Uhhh….did Youkilis get hurt??

    desturbd1 May 6, 2007, 4:44 pm
  • He was hit earlier by a pitch

    TJ May 6, 2007, 4:47 pm
  • Not sure if Youk got hurt

    Rob May 6, 2007, 4:47 pm
  • youk was hit by a pitch that prompted francona and the trainer to take the field. he seemed okay, though?

    minomni SF May 6, 2007, 4:48 pm
  • Youk gets hit so fricken often. I dunno if it’s because he’s got balls of steel and takes it for the team or if he’s just too chunky and slow to move…heh.
Minny have the runner going on that pitch? Sucks…

    desturbd1 May 6, 2007, 4:50 pm
  • Three more outs.

    Devine May 6, 2007, 4:52 pm
  • a little of both i suspect. :) all up to papelbon now, alternative boston line-up leaves much to be desired.

    minomni SF May 6, 2007, 4:52 pm
  • Ugh…I have to go home now. I can dream the Red Sox score 12 runs…or that Papelbon is as expected. Either way, I’m a happy guy when the Red Sox are winning 2/3 of their games (please oh please oh please oh please).

    Devine May 6, 2007, 4:54 pm
  • Punto with an awesome barehand grab to throw out Cora who tried to bunt on.

    Rob May 6, 2007, 4:55 pm
  • d1, on Youks, I think a bit of both. Also, you’ve seen him at the plate, he’s not exactly conceding the outer half.
I’m a bit concerned, because while I like the idea of Pena up there in the 9th just for his ability to enable an insurance run with one swing, and he might’ve been up for Youks in the 9th for that anyway, I would think that Francona would’ve waited to keep the defense strong for the 8th.

    Scrotum QuoSF 3000 May 6, 2007, 4:55 pm
  • That it does. Is Dennys Reyes as fat as he looks in his Gameday photo? Looking solely at his face, he seems like he’d make David Wells look like Coco Crisp.
    (F*ck you MLB.TV for not working…)

    desturbd1 May 6, 2007, 4:56 pm
  • Reyes is the poster child for Snackwells

    Rob May 6, 2007, 4:57 pm
  • Yeah, scrotum, (heh…nice, btw, that arny person is f*cking insane) I’m a bit concerned, too. Hinske plays a servicable 1B, I think, but I’m very worried Pena’s going to pull a Canseco and lose the ball in the ceiling, having it hit him in the face and bounce into the stands.

    desturbd1 May 6, 2007, 4:58 pm
  • ortiz looks like he’s been extremely frustrated ever since that check swing called strike yesterday. boston can ill-afford to lose games like this, let’s hope papelbon looks better than his last outing.

    minomni SF May 6, 2007, 4:59 pm
  • Paps headed in to close it out.

    Rob May 6, 2007, 5:02 pm
  • danny reyes is on the pudgy side of things, doesn’t look like he skims on too many meals.. i don’t think it’s possible to make david wells look like anything but a blob, just a bigger or smaller blob relative to the object he’s being compared to.

    minomni SF May 6, 2007, 5:03 pm
  • d1, agreed on arny, and agreed on Pena. He’s certainly capable of something like that.
Had to go with the Scrotum QuoSF 3000. Sounds like something that might be like in a porn movie informercial. The Scrotum 3000.

    Scrotum QuoSF 3000 May 6, 2007, 5:06 pm
  • Nice job by Paps
Final score for the series Sox 7…Twinkies 4
Not exactly a hitting clinic the last few days

    Rob May 6, 2007, 5:12 pm
  • We win another good road game, proving we don’t really need Clemens.

    I'm Bill McNeal May 6, 2007, 5:13 pm
  • Yay, looks like Papelbon is himself again.
Another win, another series of great pitching performances. Offense gets something of a pass since it was missing 2 starters and Crisp/Cora have no business leading off.
And Pedroia is finally looking like the guy he was in AAA. Awesome.
