Back In Town: Sox-Yanks Gamer I

Phil Hughes has fared poorly against Boston over his career, with Boston as a team slashing 307/367/476 against the righty and scoring 41 runs on him over ~51 innings lifetime. He has yet to record a win against Boston at YS. Aaron Cook is coming off a loss in Toronto where he was arguably undone by poor fielding. The Yankees saw Cook at the Stadium last year as a Rockie, roughing him up.

Friday night Beast baseball in the Bronx. Comment away.

  • Hughes has fared poorly against everyone…

ANYWHO…I am going out tonight to watch the game so you guys are on your own. If you don’t hear from me for a few days after, it means a SF ran their mouth and I’m in jail.

    ;)

  • After Hughes gets ahead 0-2 with two outs, Pedroia battles back to a full count and then takes Hughes yard. 1-0 Boston.

  • Ground ball with eyes by AGon past a diving Teixeira.

    attackgerbil July 27, 2012, 7:18 pm
  • Cody Ross with a double into the pen – could have been a triple really – saving a run as AGon has to stay at third on the GR.

  • Or costing a run, depending on the color of your goggles.

  • Salty down swinging, which I am guessing is the only thing that prevented Krueg from having to be treated for an aneurysm. Sox 1-0, should have been worse.

  • Nice diving grab by Pedroia to prevent a hit by Jeter.

    attackgerbil July 27, 2012, 7:24 pm
  • Granderson hustles out a double.. close play, throw by Ross was just a bit late and wide.

    attackgerbil July 27, 2012, 7:25 pm
  • Cano drives a single between first and second, pushing Granderson to third.

    attackgerbil July 27, 2012, 7:26 pm
  • Teixeira hit a soft grounder to Pedroia, but Aviles can’t turn it quickly enough to get two. VERY close, but it was the right call. Granderson scores.

  • Ibanez lines it out to right, 3-1 New York.

    attackgerbil July 27, 2012, 7:31 pm
  • Ichiro’s first at bat is an 0-1 drive to Ellsbury.

    attackgerbil July 27, 2012, 7:43 pm
  • Crawford goes second deck for his first dinger of the year. Wow, that left quickly.

    attackgerbil July 27, 2012, 7:47 pm
  • Jeter and Granderson with back to back singles in the third. Cano up, no one away, fully count, Cook at 42 pitches.

    Hey, Joba!

  • Hangin’ in the dugout. Not bouncing I hope.

    attackgerbil July 27, 2012, 8:03 pm
  • Cano grounds out to AGon, Jeter holds, Granderson to second. Teix lifts one to deep left which allows Jeter to tag. Yanks up 4-2.

    attackgerbil July 27, 2012, 8:04 pm
  • Ibanez IBB’d so Cook can face Jones, who is already down 0-2 before he even gets to the plate.

    attackgerbil July 27, 2012, 8:07 pm
  • Or at least it feels that way.. another K.

    attackgerbil July 27, 2012, 8:07 pm
  • Since the break, 27 PA, 3 H, 1 HR, 0 BB, 15Ks

    attackgerbil July 27, 2012, 8:10 pm
  • Hughes gives up a dinger to Salty, making it Yankees 4 Sox 3. 20 on the year for Salty, and Hughes has given up 3 tonight and 17 on the year at Yankee Stadium.

    attackgerbil July 27, 2012, 8:15 pm
  • A one out single from Ichiro is followed up by a home run by Martin makes it 6-3 Yankees.

    attackgerbil July 27, 2012, 8:21 pm
  • Aviles did not like that third strike call.

    attackgerbil July 27, 2012, 8:27 pm
  • I’m back in time to see Ichiro ground in to a fielder’s choice, but he’s still got plenty of speed so that the DP isn’t turned. Runners at the corners with one away in the eighth.

  • Sell, Mortimer. SELL!
