Beezlebub was an Angel: Halos-Yanks Gamer

I must admit that I forgot that baseball teams actually play baseball. Funny that. I thought they dealt in names.

The Angels have been anything but angelic to their opponents of late. They just destroyed the Sox in a series sweep, and they, of course, own the Yanks. I am always down for surprises, so it would be great if the Yanks turned the tables on them. Tonight is the start of a 4-game series that might allow them to do just that.

Comment here on all the Manny-less action.

  • Abreu slipped! But kept the ball in front of him to give up only a single..

  • I will maintain my play-by-play fasting. Go Yanks!

  • AP’s control not there today early. Many men on base, but can he continue to strand them?
Meanwhile, Garland made short work of the Yanks.

  • I guess the Angels are going ahead with their stealing, Pudge or no.

  • I know the Yankees are our rivals and just one game behind us, but I really, really don’t like the Angels (especially this year).
Feel free to win, Yankees. You have my blessing.

  • All those people getting on base stopped getting stranded, and the Yanks are down 6-1. Garland pitching a 2 hitter too.

  • Sidenote – Why does the Yanks keep getting suspended for not hitting people?

  • A Nady walk and a triple by Cano! Too bad it sandwiched an IRod DP, so here’s an opportunity to leave him on base.
It was a close play at third, and probably unnecessarily so, since there were two outs..

  • Damon with either a single or a triple depending on how they score it, but he ends up at third anyhow. Still, the DP took away a run..

  • They were down 6-2 with some possiblity to score when I posted the above. Now it’s 10-3. Nady with an HR. Let’s hope he does it when the Yanks aren’t down by 8!

  • “freaking Los Angeles Angels of Greater Anaheim”
    I heard that.

  • Did you guys ban A.? I would have expected to see him around here the last few days. I may not have much of a voice since I don’t tend to post, but I do often read, and I found his contrarian perspective quite refreshing. If so, it’s a loss for interestingness and balance in this community, and I have to say I’ll probably be less likely to read the comments.

  • Ponson is going to get lit up like a christmas tree tonight…I’m not even going to watch the bloodbath. Last year in Yankee Stadium and no playoffs…what a travesty.

  • Well I haven’t jumped to your point on pronouncing the season over yet Krueg, but as for tonight, I completely share your sentiment. I will either DVR and then skim over it later if they actually surprise me and win, or I will watch live through barely parted fingers while cowering on the couch. Our rotation is so shaky that when Mussina and Pettitte both stumble we are pretty much assured of a hideous week.

  • IH- i am a pessimist as you know but i think it’s justified this season. Our pitching is attrocious…even worse than last year. Nothing was done, save Marte, to address the pitching and I think it’s pretty obvious that the last month was a mirage from the staff. C.C. next year of I am going to lose it…

  • Thanks Cambridge, but it doesn’t seem as if I’m banned. For a while there they were deleting my posts but I think it was me being a PIA regarding unequal treatment. That’s something I’ll just have to learn to shrug off around here. But no, I didn’t get any sort of ban notice – yet.
    krueg –
What are you worried about? Igawa is pitching great at The Office! And Pavano is rehabing!
Seriously though, they weren’t making an acquisition that could shut down the Angels. The best they can hope for is making the playoffs. But then there’s no pitcher they were acquiring, short of CC, who would bump Moose and Pettitte for Games 2 and 3. This team was cooked when Wang, Hughes, and IPK went down. In the off-season they’ll sign CC and they’ll have a real shot if all the pitchers stay healthy.

  • A: I agree and I agree. Making the playoffs would be amazing, if for nothing else than they would have to win a bunch of games (which is fun to watch)but next year is another story. No excuses to not get better on the mound…
