I wish I could…
We can begin exacting revenge a week from tonight.
I hope so…not confident though. This team seems weak and fragile. Maybe they have swine flu of the testicles?
They do seem to lack the confidence that those Yankee teams from the 1996-2000 era had. Back then, you knew – KNEW – they would find a way to win.
It’s frustrating. We have great players who just don’t seem to perform to their capabilities. But, it’s still April and we’re only 4 games out, so there’s hope. Getting Alex back will help defensively and offensively, but the ‘pen is a black hole right now.
Man I can’t wait until ARod gets back…hopefully he can give the lineup the boost it needs.
Now the pitching staff is another story. I’m really hoping that once the weather gets warmer, the staff will start pitching better.
I read something today that Austin Jackson is tearing up AAA, may be up middle of the year? Gardner is horrible so that would be an upgrade…
I know it’s early but still…feels like another shit year.
As I said in the gamer, the Sox own the Yankees in April. We havent taken a series in boston in april since 1995! The team is at .500, reinforcements are coming. Dont worry!
I wouldn’t be nearly as suicidal if they had at least won one game…
I’m still debating whether or not to watch CC pitch his third shit game in a row tonight…not sure I can handle it!
“swine flu of the testicles”
And now I have my first album title. Thanks for the suggestion. My music will be a cross between Chris Cross and Kriss Kross. Man, imagine that mash-up: “Sailing” and “Jump”. Some DJ has to make that happen.
I like Gerb’s mind by the way. It’s a lot like mine (except without the polka dots).
Is Jackson supposed to be the REAL real deal, or the Phil Hughes/Ian Kennedy real deal?
I heard Gammo rave about him last week.
Is Jackson supposed to be the REAL real deal, or the Phil Hughes/Ian Kennedy real deal?
As long as he isnt Clay Bucholz “real” we should be ok! Seriously, though can this question every be answered until a player plays in the bigs? Phil Hughes was considered by basically every one to be one of the best prospects in the game and was not simply boosted by the Yankees. Id argue that the window for him to be successful hasnt passed either given he is 22 still.
NY sports radio has been abuzz about how the sox own mo. many callers and hosts have used the old excuse “the sox have seen him so much over the years…”. that may be true but jason bay had had exactly 2 career AB’s versus mo before friday nite. As long as he isnt Clay Bucholz “real”…
jeez, i almost forgot about old clay. he’ll be forever remembered as the ONE sox prospect that didn’t pan out. anybody stay up to see bowden dominate last nite? the future looks brite…..agian.
Bowden has one of the fugliest deliveries I’ve ever seen. It looks like he’s palming the ball. It travels like a yo-yo.
My confidence level in this is still 7 out of a possible 10.
“he’ll be forever remembered as the ONE sox prospect that didn’t pan out.”
Craig Hanson? There are plenty, the point is they are usually easy to forget….
We’ll see Phil tomorrow so that should be interesting…hopefully he has gotten it together.
I’m going to watch the game tonight. It’s my birthday and I can’t remember the last time we lost on my birthday? Hell, I even watched Gei Igawa beat the Sox on my b-day a few years ago. Plus, if CC actually pitches a good game for once, I may not have to take my own life so that would be pretty sweet.
Glad I could help brother…maybe 0.5% royalty for my idea when you go platinum? Or at least let me sit with you in the empty front-section of Yankee Stadium when you get your tickets???
no gamer…
1-2-3 first inning…nice work boys. not. Teixeira is incredible at hitting pop flys…no one else even comes close!!!
CC still not throwing strikes…
That was easy…0-1. here we go again.
a hit by cano!!!! we got a hit!!!! woo hoo!!!
Swisher…wow…was hitting about what, .500, and he’s now down to .286…awesome.
K for swish…keep it up big guy, you’ll fit right in.
Verlander just laying us down…game. i’m out.
No gamers? Bummer. Also, I didn’t realize we had given up on Buchholz… though I guess with the way Masterson’s been pitching it’s going to be even harder for Clay to get an opportunity to contribute to the ML club this year.
You guys don’t even need him…
1st and 2nd with no outs and we couldn’t even move the batters over..
Verlander at only 65 pitches through 4.
Two on with no outs…weak pop by cano, another K for swish, melky k….beautiful. what a garbage lineup. no clutch hitting…ever.
Complete game shutout…mark it down now. We are pathetic. Waiting for the patented yankee pitcher meltdown inning where we give up 5-14 runs…
How bad is CC??? He doesn’t throw hard AND he can’t hit his spots…
Finally!!!! A K for CC!!!! christ…
Now THAT looked like the guy we paid $200 billion for…about time.
At least CC is looking good, struck out the side and got through the 4th with only 46 pitches. He might go all the way.
Easy bro…let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Still can’t f-ing hit…
I hate damon…the guy is COMPLETELY worthless.
9-10 here we come…happy birthday to me.
CC looking good??? What the hell???
OUR LINEUP IS PATHETIC!!!!! Hit the damn ball…please???
Another 1-2-3 inning for the Bronx Failures…time for the pitching meltdown now?
Sox aren’t doing much tonight either. Post-apocalyptic letdown, I guess.
P.S.
Stadium= FAIL
Front Office= FAIL
Training Staff= FAIL
PR Staff= FAIL
Administrative Staff= FAIL
I knew they were going to lose yet I still watched…that’s my own fault. Will not make the same mistake again, at least until ARod gets back or June when they start to care.
Come on Swish…hat trick baby! You can do it!!!
Damn…he popped out weakly to the infield. Really wanted that 3rd K!!!
Come on Verlander…two more innings baby for your complete game shutout!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!
CC’s been pretty good by his standards…only 4 ER’s so far! So far…
Pena is our best hitter??? Unreal.
Tigers at 97% of winning. Ah well, gg.
Jeter base hit…two on and no out, bet we get nothing. verlander out. too bad, could have easily pitched a CG shutout.
Damon will hit into a DP and Teixeira will K…
Wakefield throws a one-hitter through 7, and we can’t score a bloody run for him? Lame.
I stand corrected…weak pop fly by Damon. Nice job Johnny you worthless piece of shit. Didn’t even move over the runners. Teixiera time…DP?
Haven’t you guys won 10 in a row??? Swept your hated rivals in embarrassing fashion this weekend?
No one pops out quite like Teixiera, or ARod Jr. should I say…$180 billion defensive specialist. Awesome. I seriously cannot believe what I’m seeing…we are all-around awful. period.
Second time two on, no out, and the Yanks don’t even move the guys over..
I’ll trade you for the entire fucking Yankees order…
Matusi K’s!!!! 0-7 with RISP!!!! Let’s Go Failures…clap, clap, clap clap clap!!! God, I love this team…all heart and hustle baby, all heart and hustle.
What a great birthday present…just kill me now.
I guess the bright side is that CC only gave up 4 runs as opposed to 6-7…
Hey, Wakefield doesn’t throw many gems like this, we need to be taking advantage of them while we can!
CG loss…good job CC, relatively.
I used to watch him when I was a kid and he was on the Buffalo Bisons!! Man, was that the late 80’s maybe??? The guy is a warrior…more heart than the entire sorry-ass Yankee team put together! (aside from Jeter and Mo of course)
Leadoff double for Cano!!!! WOO HOO!!! RALLY!!! not. Just get this shit over with so I can go to the gym…
Cano with a double. If only there were people on base or something.
Also relatively moot as everybody lets people move up to fielder’s indifference..
Jason Bay 3-run homer in the 9th. Fuck yes.
WE SCORED A RUN!!! OH MY GOD!!!! CELEBRATE GOOD TIME…COME ON…DA, NANA, NA NA, NA NA NA…WOO HOO!!!
Okay, Ath/Jackie, now you got your HR, get out of here and let us bitch! Haha..
Swisher gets a garbage single and let’s see what happens..
And now Lowell triples.
(Why no gamethread?)
Jason bay delivers again
See, you guys are awesome. The anti-thesis of the New York Failures!!!
Tying run coming to the plate in the form of Hip Hip…JORGE!!! Here comes the DP.
I am watching this on gamecast…but how does Lowell (bum hip and all) manage a triple on what appeared to be a shallow fly to center?…missed dive?
I like to parody Naughty by Nature for Jorge instead….Hip Hop JORGE, ho, JORGE, ho…get it? Much better.
I smell double play.
Re-sign Bay! Re-sign Bay!
Told you…DP.
Hate to be right.
How long until Girardi gets fired? End of May? Cashman needs to go to…asap.
Happy Birthday to me,
Happy Birthday to me,
The Yankees fucking suuuuuuuck,
Happy Birthday to me!!!
CC looked better, though, so that’s a bit of a silver lining for you guys. But the offense really needs A-Rod back.
Yeah, bad dive, ball got by and rolled almost to the track (I think) for the Lowell 3B. Bay Manny’d that HR a little, flipped his bat, clearly knew it was gone.
9-10 baby!!! Hughes gets rocked tomorrow and it’s 9-11…man, this is going to be a great season. I can’t wait to see how long it takes this team to completely implode…
Yeah…because ARod is clutch cargo!!!! ;)
Going to the gym to take out my frustrations…great job Sox, must be nice to win games!!!
Choo on for Indians to lead off, a rocket up the middle.
Base hit #2 from Garko. Nobody out.
K barely catching the outsider corner. Whew. One down.
Get it together, Papelbon…
Hit DeRosa. 3-1. Winning run to the plate.
All the hits are line drives off fastballs.
Papelbon doing his best to screw it up. 3-1 now.
Another K, this time swinging. 2 down.
To say something a lot of people are going to say:
This one goes to ELEVEN!
Oh, thank goodness, I did not want to see Sizemore up with a chance to tie it.
Sorry for the bad birthday Krueg!
Thanks bro…it’s all good. I’m just going to have to find a new hobby for the summer, crystal meth maybe? I only wish I could get my money back for the baseball package!!! What a waste…
11 straight wins for the Sox??? Man…what a team. When’s the last time the Failures won 11 straight, 1998?
Actually Krueg, we won like 13 in a row in July or August of 2006. Once the streak ended though we crashed pretty hard. So I’m always wary of long winning streaks.
You must have blocked out August ’06 pretty well, Ath, ’cause there was definitely no winning streak that month…the Sox were like 1-27. (Fine, it was more like 7-21 or something…it was awful at any rate.)
The Sox won at least 10 in a row in ’04 and something like 21 of 23 late in the season. Winning streaks are good as long as you have steady wins elsewhere in the season.
Ath is right about the 2006 winning streak. Only it did not happen in July or August. It was a 12 game winning streak lasting from June 16th to June 29th. And yes, we did crash pretty hard in August.
But not this year …
The nice thing is that I still think the Sox, having not spent a half billion dollars this year, are going to make a few nice moves at the trading deadline with teams who are not only out of it, but going broke.
That being said, no team is as good or bad as they are when they’re on a streak of either wins or losses. Both teams are probably somewhere in the middle of what they look like now. But, I do believe NY’s bullpen is exactly as bad as it looks.
Failures = Yankees
I was asking when the last time the Yankees(i.e. Failures)last won 11 in a row. Wasn’t ripping on your boys…
We know you weren’t, Krueg. I think Ath was just pointing out that a long winning streak does not guarantee a successful season.
The Yankees will come around and though I agree with Brad that the bullpen does not look too good it will get better once Bruney’s back.
The Yankees had a ten game winning streak in 2005 (from May 7th to May 17th). They also had ten game winning streaks in 1998, 1994 and 1987. Their last eleven game winning streak dates back to 1985 (August 31st to September 10th). (all this according to baseball.reference.com)
Ahh my bad. I blocked out the entire August/September of 2006, so my memories from April-July obviously stretched and shifted in order to fill the gap.
But yeah, I’m always wary of long winning streaks, because when the team returns to earth they seem to crash VERY hard. Paul wrote up a fantastic post about it back in like 2007, search for it if you get a chance.
Somebody slap krueg, he’s getting hysterical.
No diss dude, but you sound like a Lohud commenter at this point. Using the word “Failures” instead of “Yankees” isn’t as clever as you think it is. Step away from the ledge, friend.
