Yanks would be stupid to let Matsui go and then sign Vlad. Matsui is superior to Vlad, in my opinion.

I think Matsui getting a chance to play the field is a bigger factor than you think. It could reestablish his value so he can get a bigger deal next offseason. With the Yankees, he might not even get to play a full season.

sad to see him go…he was one of my favorite players, even before he won the series mvp…but, i can’t let sentiment get in the way…he’s a dh only…his knees won’t hold up playing the outfield every day…that’s why the yanks started resting and dh-ing him, and he had a great year…cashman has already gone on record as saying the marketing angle is overrated lar, or he was rationalizing matsui’s departure…as for the other half of this, please, no vlad…he’s done, and he’d clog up the dh merry-go-round cashman has planned…
