General Red Sox

Bouncing Back

Last year following the Hideki Okajima/Terry Francona meltdown in Boston against the Yankees, I posted about the resilience of veteran ballclubs. Though Tampa is full of youngsters, I think that my sentiments still apply, to an extent. Though battle-tested post-season veterans they are not, they are still intensely focused professional athletes at the tops of their game and their league. I’ll re-link to it here. Replace “Wang” with Shields and there you have it. Tonight’s result depends more on the Red Sox pitcher not showing signs of a damaged oblique than anything else, it’s not just about the Rays’ heads, it’s, to a far greater degree, about Josh’s mid-section.
