Sorry folks. I was distracted this morning by another project and spaced out on placing a gamer. The Yanks are going for a sweep of the Bucs today, with Tyler Clippard facing our old friend Shawn Chacon. Comment away.

Ahh, Shawn.. how we miss you. Yanks quickly 3-0 on a single by Damon, Triple by Abreu, walk by ARod and double from Godzilla. Good start.
Very quiet today. *tap-tap* Is this thing on?
these pesky pirates have no quit in them. it’s hard to believe they have the worst collective OBP in baseball. 6 – 5 bucs.
obviously kay has never gotten over the 1960 world series. you can hear the bitterness in his voice.
And he wasn’t even conceived yet when that happened. Talk about holding a grudge.
kinda funny ag…i wiki-d kay and his b day was in february of ’61, so i guess he’d been conceived.
A-Rod’s good
They put in someone named Sharpless with a 12 ERA (now working on 15!) to face a-rod with two on. Just great.
sf rod.. ooh.. good catch. I did the same and screwed up the math. :)
Well, now that explains a _lot_.
Okay, leaving the office so can watch some of this for real instead of on game channel.
pirates squander a bases loaded 1 out situation. they’ve really only been one hit away in all three of these games.
hate it when bad calls are lauded as great plays. kay is enamored by a play cairo never made.
they’ve really only been one hit away in all three of these games.
That’s the sign of a bad team, when they’re “one hit away” about 95 times a year, as it looks like the Pirates will be come the end of September. Really, YF trying to play off the Pirates as a half-decent squad yesterday was a joke. This is a team that will barely win 70 games in an absolutely terrible division in a lesser league. They stink. Let’s call it like it is.
Well, the competition isn’t very good but you can’t complain if you’re a Yanks fan. Earlier in the season the Yanks would have managed to lose of these games.
I will say the fifth starter situation is concerning. Clippard looked bad. The Kei Igawa signing seems to be a major mistake that we’re going to pay for.
Fifth starters generally stink, Nick. All you need is league average + at that spot, basically.
yeah, and we’re not getting league average. There so much ground to make up that we can’t afford a crappy 3 inning performance every five games.
This is Clippard’s first actually bad game. Talk about a short leash.
isn’t it redundant to make the statement that nl teams stink?…
good point, Andrew. I’ve turned into George Steinbrenner here. I guess I’m concerned because he’s a rookie and Torre tends to make rookies worse. But yeah, you’re right. He’s been solid so far. Acceptable for a fifth starter.
