Call It NoMonument Park?

You say desperation breeds delusion? Perhaps. Brian Cashman on Yankee acquisition Hideo Nomo:

He’s Hideo Nomo—he’s one of the premier pitchers of probably all time for what he accomplished coming over from Japan….You know he’s not afraid. He’s one of those rare special ones.

Rare. Special. And dumped by the pitching-heavy D-Rays. We take what we can get.

  • YF edited the Cashman comment. The more complete quote includes the last part where Cashman waved his cape in the air and shouted, “I’m Batman! Awaaaaaaaaaay!!” and then ran off.

  • Uhh…Nomo = ‘one of the premier pitchers of probably all time’? This is clearly a cry for help. Someone get Cash an oxygen mask or a saline IV pronto. Or at least steer him into the shade and have him sit.
(Of course, I’d be more than happy if Nomo goes out and racks up a 2.50ERA for the rest of the season. I mean, the DRays aren’t exactly known for their astute personnel decisions, either.)

  • I’m sorry. All I can do is laugh at that quote. One of the funniest things I’ve read in a long time. Bravo, Cashman. I am so glad you aren’t my team’s GM.
