Boomer gets a warm welcome—and then the Yankees get their just deserts. Back to back dingers with two outs in the bottom of the ninth? No problem. A four-run ralley in the 12thwin it? No problem. Just in case you’re counting, that’s the 26th come-from-behind win of the year. We can’t help but think of 1998, when everybreak seemed to go the Yankees’ way.

Our only question: is there anyone left on the pitching staff who isn’t injured? Paging Lee Guetterman.

  • And we’ll gladly take the calmer route, the stay-ahead win, with the new Pedro (same as the old Pedro) giving us an equally heartening affair. And boy can that Pokey shag’em, if you know what I mean. Lastly, here’s hoping Curt doesn’t miss too much time with the troubled ankle. These hang-in-there Sox can’t be expected to deal with too much more.
