Coco Pop?: Sox-Braves Gamer V

We’re late with this one, and it’s gonna be short as we’re cooking dinner and taking care of little kiddies.  So, here goes: KEEP IT UP, COCO!

(now if only the rest of the team would follow his example. Can you believe we just typed that sentence?!)

Comment on the action here.

  • Wonderfully promising top of the first there, about 7 pitches and nothing. Great.
I think I need like a month away from baseball, frankly. Then again, if I go away for a month, the Sox may be 5 games behind and that means I will have to go away from baseball until next March.

  • Way to keep the faith! How are we supposed to be card carrying members of Red Sox Nation if we don’t keep the faith?
But I agree, we need to hit more. Way more. Especially with Schill’s MRI news.

  • A big fat double play to end the inning. Shades of Oakland…

  • Hey where in Brooklyn are you nstbSF?

    SF June 19, 2007, 8:04 pm
  • Hey, I am keeping the faith. I just don’t have a lot of what I am keeping.

    SF June 19, 2007, 8:05 pm
  • WRKO is saying if didn’t look like one out, let alone two.

    rootbeerfloat June 19, 2007, 8:06 pm
  • Four pitches, two outs for Beckett this inning. Somebody named “Scott Thorman” is up. His last name screams “typo”.

    SF June 19, 2007, 8:07 pm
  • Uh, what, RBF? What did WRKO say?
Droid with a heckuva catch. 7 pitch inning for Beckett there. Nice.

    SF June 19, 2007, 8:08 pm
  • SF – They were saying on the replay that Renteria clearly didn’t touch the base before he threw to first and that Tek looked safe at first anyway.

    rootbeerfloat June 19, 2007, 8:10 pm
  • Ah, Coc’s up, maybe the offense will pick up now.

    rootbeerfloat June 19, 2007, 8:11 pm
  • or not

  • “Hey where in Brooklyn are you nstbSF?”
da Slope. Where the strolleratzi reign and the storefronts sell babies and real estate.

  • Another lame inning. 8 pitches.
You know what? We suck right now. Forget the SF series, as that was clearly an outlier. Absent that series, the Sox are 5-10 in their last 15. Putrid. And deserved. This team is playing like it’s last September and they are already out of it. No fire at all.

    SF June 19, 2007, 8:15 pm
  • Well, I am in DUMBO, and part of the strolleratzi…
    Sorry.

    SF June 19, 2007, 8:15 pm
  • Sox forcing another pitcher to throw another shutout.
    Recipe for disaster.

    SF June 19, 2007, 8:16 pm
  • harsh. God, I hate you Edgar. I can’t believe we pay him to beat us.

  • Yay! The 2005 Renteria shows up!
Finally. Drew on board on the high throw on a routine play.

    SF June 19, 2007, 8:33 pm
  • E-Renteria!!

no sleep til brooklyn SF June 19, 2007, 8:33 pm
  • And the Sox promptly run right out of the inning, Drew caught stealing on a botched H&R, or just a terrible steal. The dreadfulness continues.

    SF June 19, 2007, 8:35 pm
  • crap. I don’t even know if that hit and run should get an A for effort for trying to start something. I’ll give it a C-

  • Youk doubles, Manny to third. Big pickup here from Tek if he can do it, with two outs. Come on, ex-Toast.

    SF June 19, 2007, 8:41 pm
  • All on Coco now. Super Slugger.

  • IBB to Tek.

    SF June 19, 2007, 8:42 pm
  • ok, it will make my week if Coco does something here.

    rootbeerfloat June 19, 2007, 8:43 pm
  • Cox is directly challenging SF with the intentional walk here, saying “Oh yeah, so it’s all about Coco is it?”

    Nick-YF June 19, 2007, 8:44 pm
  • Drat.

    SF June 19, 2007, 8:44 pm
  • cora with a leadoff stand-up triple. ok. he can play everyday.

    sf rod June 19, 2007, 8:53 pm
  • Beckett LASHES one to the gap! Cora scores, 2-0 Sox and Beckett in SP.

    SF June 19, 2007, 8:54 pm
  • beckett punishes a fastball to the wall to drive in cora. 2-0 sox.

    sf rod June 19, 2007, 8:54 pm
  • Josh Monster

    TJ June 19, 2007, 8:54 pm
  • Droid! Single up the middle scores Beckett. 3-0 Sox.

    SF June 19, 2007, 8:55 pm
  • dustin singles up the middle to score beckett. nice swings this inning by the bottom of the lineup.

    sf rod June 19, 2007, 8:56 pm
  • Loving Beckett helping his own cause! Too bad Manny couldn’t gas that last at-bat there.

no sleep til brooklyn SF June 19, 2007, 9:03 pm
  • Need a quick inning from Beckett here…get those hungry bats back up.

    SF June 19, 2007, 9:04 pm
  • Did you see that catch that Coco made?

    SF June 19, 2007, 9:08 pm
  • What a grab by Coco!!!!!

    SF June 19, 2007, 9:08 pm
  • another amazing one from coco. full extension and rough landing.

    sf rod June 19, 2007, 9:09 pm
  • That was a great catch! He covered a lot of ground to catch up with that, too. Did you see Lugo call the catch before Coco dove for it?

    Tom sf June 19, 2007, 9:10 pm
  • it was cora…..which made it all the better.

    sf rod June 19, 2007, 9:11 pm
  • Check that – I meant Cora, not el Vacio.

    Tom sf June 19, 2007, 9:11 pm
  • Nice grab by Manny, tight to the stands. Inning over.

    SF June 19, 2007, 9:12 pm
  • I typed Lugo because I was thinking he should try playing defense that good if he’s going to suck with the bat like Coco.

    Tom sf June 19, 2007, 9:13 pm
  • Here’s an idea: Beckett plays SS on his off-days.

    SF June 19, 2007, 9:15 pm
  • Did you see that catch Coco made?!

no sleep til brooklyn SF June 19, 2007, 9:15 pm
  • LOL! That double he hit was hit harder than anything Lugo has hit all year.

    Tom sf June 19, 2007, 9:16 pm
  • Varitek back to looking a little…toasty.

    SF June 19, 2007, 9:16 pm
  • (and he promptly “doubles”, off the first baseman’s glove down the line)

    SF June 19, 2007, 9:17 pm
  • Tek with a cheap double. Atlanta should be embarassed over that one.

    Tom sf June 19, 2007, 9:17 pm
  • Come on, Coco…

    SF June 19, 2007, 9:17 pm
  • Coco singles to left. Tek to third.

    SF June 19, 2007, 9:18 pm
  • Cox out to get Hudson.

    SF June 19, 2007, 9:19 pm
  • Tuesday night Yankees on My9, woot. Always fun to watch Jorge play first base. Getting to Mussina a bit even though they didn’t score any runs. [/Yankees tangent]
Wow! Pulling Hudson in the 6th! Who knew…

  • I am loving the fact (but also keeping my fingers crossed big time) that Coco may be revving it up. I have been waiting for this for a long time, I really like the guy.

    SF June 19, 2007, 9:20 pm
  • both those balls were scorched. nice to see tek pull one. nice to see coco go the other way.

    sf rod June 19, 2007, 9:22 pm

Gotta hit the hay, all. Keep it going, Josh!

    vancouversoxfan June 19, 2007, 10:32 pm
