400 saves. The best reliever ever adds to his legend.
Hard to argue with this. On the other hand, he wasn’t the best reliever ever at one specific and perfect time, which is something I will always remember, in addition to the dominance. Congrats to Mo, a class act, from this Sox fan.
Come on, Nick, you’re just trying to get Mariano to comment on this site, too! :-P
Otherwise, what SF said. Mo is the only Yankee I don’t feel dirty about complimenting…
SF says, “On the other hand, he wasn’t the best reliever ever at one specific and perfect time, which is something I will always remember, in addition to the dominance”
Except maybe in the post-season, huh?
As far as I’m concerned, and I would put this to fans of any other team as well, Is there a single reliever you would rather have had, ever, over Mo’?
I can’t think of one.
Bozo, I was referring to the 2004 ALCS. But I guess you could add in the DBacks series as well.
Regardless, the answer to your question is no, nobody. Even from a Sox fan.
And the way he got his 400th was just a classic Mariano moment. Coming in to the eigth with no outs, two runners on, pitching out of it, and then pitching out of another jam in the ninth. Just great stuff to watch.
