Consternation: Yanks-Rays Gamer XV

The Yankees have been rolling so far in September, scoring 28 runs in their matches against the Rays and makeup game at Detroit.  Tonight they go for the sweep with Darrell Rasner facing Scott Kazmir.  Rasner hasn’t won a start since July 12th and looked pretty dismal in his last two outings, while Kazmir has strung four decent starts together, winning three.

ARod made headlines with his homer last night, passing Mike Schmidt on the all-time list once it was (the first dinger to be) reviewed and upheld.  PA reports Bobby Abreu has been scratched after hurting his wrist sliding into second last night.

Beating up on the Rays feels good, but there’s a nagging frustration that it may well end up helping a few other teams more than it might eventually help the Bombers.  After tonight, it’s off to the Emerald City for three games at beautiful SafeCo, followed by three at Anaheim.

Comment away.

  • nettles: I’m driving to Bremerton on Saturday with the lady and her folks. Lunch there, then ferrying over. We’ve got nosebleed seats. Had a heck of a time finding lodging, having waited way too long to book a room. I hear we’re going to be stuck out in Bellevue. Whether we stay for Sunday is a game-day decision.

  • This game is going downhill mighty fast. TB up 3-0 in the second with only one out.
Darrell may not be joining us out here on the left coast.

  • Navarro singles to lead off the bottom of the third. I think I’m going to go drink a margarita or six.

  • Yanks tease us with a comeback, but the hole is too deep to climb out of. Sad face.

wow, I can imagine not getting a room prior to labor day, but that’s odd this time of the year. Bellevue is nice though – there is an excellent sushi restraunt (Flo) there. Have a wheat beer at pyramid, too, please.
