Crossroads: Sox-M’s Gamer VII

Last game of the day here. Anyone wanting to get on better do it now. Will this be taking us to 2006 or 2007? Gettin’ to be about time to figure that out.

All aboard ‘n’ comment away…

  • Why is Papi playing in AA? He aced his Pawtucket rehab, now he’s in Portland and 2-3 tonight. What do one or two extra games in Portland prove? Is this to avoid the long-distance travel? I am obviously no doctor, but has anyone offered an explanation as to why Ortiz couldn’t rejoin the Sox after Pawtucket?

  • No idea SF, though there doesn’t seem to be any reason. Whether he’s hitting BP in the minors or hitting real pitchers on the West Coast he’s putting equal strain on that wrist.
Come on Lester, bring your A-game for that home crowd of yours.

  • Washburn’s fastball hits 89 and then 87. We usually get destroyed by pitchers like this.

    Atheose July 21, 2008, 10:11 pm
  • Another easy out from Ellsbury. Vacuums at the top and bottom of the lineup. Who is Pedroia supposed to advance if nobody is on base? Maybe Dusty should be leading off?

    SF July 21, 2008, 10:12 pm
  • Pedroia singles. He’s had a monster month+.

    SF July 21, 2008, 10:14 pm
  • Pedroia is a fucking machine.

    Atheose July 21, 2008, 10:14 pm
  • I thought about that the other day SF, move Pedroia to #1 and Youk to #2. Of course that would break the cardinal managers rule: if someone’s hot, don’t mess with them.

    Atheose July 21, 2008, 10:15 pm
  • Bah, double play despite Pedroia’s best effort.

    Atheose July 21, 2008, 10:15 pm
  • Old JD returning? 3rd GIDP in the last few games…

    Paul SF July 21, 2008, 10:16 pm
  • Drew hits into a slightly unconventional DP. Glad to have tuned in for that wonderful inning, the one frame I can watch before needing serious sleep. The Sox have a favorable Fenway-based schedule come September, apparently, a schedule which should enable them to climb back into third.
    G’night!

  • Of course that would break the cardinal managers rule: if someone’s hot, don’t mess with them.
It would also break the “you ALWAYS have to bat a skidding, sub-.300 OBP over the last forty games overmatched pseudo-rookie with speed first in the lineup despite the damage it does” rule.

    SF July 21, 2008, 10:19 pm
  • Hey, you could move Youk or Drew to lead-off ;-)
    Ichiro K’s.

    Atheose July 21, 2008, 10:20 pm
  • Lester hitting 94 on the gun. Post-chemo strength finally returning? He’s usually around 90-91.

    Atheose July 21, 2008, 10:21 pm
  • Eh, I wouldn’t trust the guns, Ath. They are different at every stadium it seems.
Not in bed yet, want to see Lester’s first inning as well. Soon enough with the shuteye…

    SF July 21, 2008, 10:22 pm
  • 95 on the radar, quick inning on 13 pitches for Lester.

    Atheose July 21, 2008, 10:23 pm
  • Well, strong inning from Lester there. Let’s get like 14 runs!
(in this inning, not over the next nine games that is)

    SF July 21, 2008, 10:23 pm
  • Yeah but Lester was hittin 94 consistently in Boston in his last start. Two’s a trend?

    Atheose July 21, 2008, 10:27 pm
  • Yeah, 2 GIDPs in two innings. On pace for a record!

    SF July 21, 2008, 10:28 pm
  • The good thing about DP’s: you can only do it once per inning. Youk gets a backwards K on a pitch VERY down and in.

    Atheose July 21, 2008, 10:31 pm
  • Lester hasn’t pitched in 13 days. Wow.

    Atheose July 21, 2008, 10:32 pm
  • Lowell makes a fantastic play, but Lopez is called safe at first. Replay confirms it.

    Atheose July 21, 2008, 10:34 pm
  • Richie Sexson Miguel Cairo flies out to right field.

    Atheose July 21, 2008, 10:35 pm
  • Well I’ll be a monkey fucked in the ass, Varitek homers!

    Atheose July 21, 2008, 11:17 pm
  • Raise your hands if you thought Varitek would be the offensive star of the night thus far…
    *crickets*

  • So good I had to post it twice!

    Paul SF July 21, 2008, 11:25 pm
  • Wha??? My mlbRadio cut out and I had to shuffle around to get on gameday – seriously, Tek homered??

    rootbeerfloat July 21, 2008, 11:27 pm
  • Jon Freaking Lester:
Five innings, 50 pitches, 40 strikes!!

    Paul SF July 21, 2008, 11:28 pm
  • Varitek homers, Coco walks twice, Lester being economical with his pitches? This is Twilight-Zone shit.
    Wow, fantastic play by Lowrie.

    Atheose July 21, 2008, 11:47 pm
  • Is anyone else unable to tell, at a glance, the difference between Chamberlain and Ponson?

    Atheose July 21, 2008, 11:53 pm
  • 83 pitches after 7, 6 K’s and 5 hits, no walks. Fantastic.
At least I can go to bed resting easily.

    Atheose July 22, 2008, 12:15 am
  • injury delay??? who’s hurt??? not Lowell, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez

    rootbeerfloat July 22, 2008, 12:19 am
  • Heckuva nice outing by Jon Lester.

    nettles July 22, 2008, 12:34 am
  • RBF, there was a delay because Lester’s cup was pinching him.

    Atheose July 22, 2008, 8:50 am
  • always gotta protect the nuggets.

    Brad July 22, 2008, 10:06 am
  • He should take it like Molina did. Or something.
