Upper Deck has signed Daisuke to an exclusive memorabilia and autograph deal. According to sources it’s a 1 year deal. The price for a Matsuzaka signed baseball in English will be $449.99, while his signature with a Kanji inscription will cost $100 more. It’s estimated that Daisuke is being paid approximately $150 per autographed ball.
Would you pay $450 for a Daisuke ball? Would you pay $550 for the ball with a kanji inscription?
Kei Igawa has signed a similar deal, except he is paying Upper Deck $150 per autographed ball. Thank goodness there isn’t a huge demand for Kei Igawa balls or else his "paltry" 4 million per year would be gone in no time!
You won this battle Theo Epstein.
If I agree to pay for a ball from Igawa, does that mean he doesn’t get it back and therefore won’t be able to start again?
I don’t get the misspelling of “paltry;” is there some joke I’m missing? Igawa chickening out on the mound or something?
No, spell check just doesn’t pick up when morons use the wrong words!!! Thanks Andrew.
zzzzzzzzzzzz
Sorry DC, I will spice up the next one for you.
We don’t have to worry about any of this because a RS first-baseman will get a hold of all the balls, refuse to give them up, and enter a lengthy legal battle with his own team over them…
…then years later he will return on a division-rival team to beat them with an extra-inning walkoff HR…
just kidding with the z’s trisk…it’s noteworthy that a d-k signed baseball would fetch so much money…
