Over at ESPN.com, Bob Klapisch dreams a hirsute dream: Johnny Damon in pinstripes. Would Boston’s Caveman thrive in NY? Food for thought.
good title, yf.
We sure hope he thrives. Starting tonight.
I know that Johnny has said that he’d consider going to New York, but if it came down to Boston vs. New York, don’t you think that he would pick the Sox, just based on loyalty? Plus, he’d have to shave and cut his hair in New York. At the point, his contingence of “Damon’s Disciples” would have to disband, because they came together because of his hair.
Ah, “loyalty”. I think it all depends on how close to the Yankees own new promise of four years of “loyalty” the Sox are at the end of their negotiations.
Loyalty is a 2 way street, how does a Team show its loyalty?
What I meant by my comment about loyalty, was in fact, if the offers were similar, with the Red Sox offering less money, or maybe an option for a fourth year instead of it being guaranteed. Something like that. Still might not be enough, but I hope it is.
A quick thought… Who is Damon’s agent? Is it Boras? I think he might be, which is not a good thing when talking about competing offers.
