Dietary Considerations: Yanks-Rays Gamer I

ms. gerbil and I are attempting one of those “cleanse” diets for a week. I have a list of foods that I’m allowed to eat. Number of items on the list that taste good: zero. Number of items that taste like this: everything else. Seeing that the Yankees are facing Kazmir gives me the exact same feeling I get when I look at my list.

  • Three stolen bases in the first inning so far. No respect for Posada.
Pena doubles ‘em in. Wang’s sinker just ain’t sinkin.

  • Is this the year that Wang and Dice-K finally make statisticians happy?

    SF April 13, 2009, 8:05 pm
  • Bartlett steals 2nd. The Rays have now stolen more bases than Wang has recorded outs.

    God I hope not.
Two pitch-outs in a row, Upton not stealing on any of them. Wang ends up walking Crawford anyways, bases now loaded. Wang’s really rusty, this is getting ugly.
Also, three days in a row without Tex. I’m genuinely surprised, considering he’s only missed 35 games over the last 4 years.

  • Wow, Wang pulled after walking Longoria. That was a fantastic at-bat by Longoria, I’m surprised they would pull him then (as he seemed to be getting his accuracy under control).
I’m not sure whether I’m happy that the Yankees are losing, or annoyed that the Rays are playing well.

  • Pena is death, destroyer of worlds. Grand slam ruins Wang’s line: 1+ IP, 8 ER.

  • game over, next…

  • If Swisher was ARod, people would be screaming “Oh great, NOW he hits a solo homerun–when we’re losing 10-0″

  • Pena with another double. Why did we release this guy again?

    Atheose April 13, 2009, 8:53 pm
  • Because he’s not as good as Youkilis. :)
I can’t believe I’m actually cheering for the Yanks here. I hate this Tampa team. Hate ‘em.

  • i don’t know what’s wrong with wang but i sure hope he figures it out soon.
that upton catch was the best thing since mays. just bonkers genuis.

  • Look at it this way, YF – Wang’s ERA won’t get much worse.

  • Wang’s next four starts: home vs Cleveland, road game vs Boston, road game vs Detroit, home game vs Boston. Not the easiest schedule.

  • I still haven’t seen that catch, and it’s not on the mlb gameday video highlights. Wtf?

    Atheose April 13, 2009, 9:53 pm
  • If I am in a rotisserie league, I trade for Wang soon.

    SF April 13, 2009, 10:14 pm
  • Wang: 1 IP, 8 ER, 1 K
    Swisher: 1 IP, 0 ER, 1 K
    For what it’s worth.

  • Seeing Swisher pitch makes this horrible loss feel a whole lot better. Nick was all smiles, even during his windup.

  • Swisher’s comments after the game were really funny, and definitely worth listening to over at LoHud. I’m paraphrasing, but he said something along the lines of “We didn’t play well today, so I just wanted to go up there and have fun and laugh a little bit. If that’s what it takes to pull this team back together and get rocking again, then good.”
Posada doesn’t have a sense of humor though: “Nobody was laughing,” he said. “I think today was embarrassing.”
