Digital Revisionism

AHA!  So Yanksfan thinks he can get away with a post about the new Yankee Stadium while pulling one over on us unsuspecting Sox fans?  We don’t think so.

Our deeply embedded sources at HOKSport, the "designers" of the new Bombers’ ballyard, have forwarded us some of the original renderings of the Behemoth in the Bronx, and it looks like YF spent some quality time with the clone stamp getting rid of some realistic flourishes.  Below is the original presentation drawing, and, unlike YF’s airbrushed fictions, it rings true. My guess is that the brutally long hours of architectural internship drove an overworked young Bostonian to add this little detail — we just wish YF had the guts to present the stadium as the architect intended.  FYI, the first image is the untouched overall shot that YF should have shown. After the jump, a blowup of the detail YF so conveniently erased.

  • How many of those are up at fenway? 2003,1999,1986,1978,1975,1967,1949,1946?

They ran out of room for those at Fenway.

  • 1999? When we lost 4-1 in the ALCS? Yeah, that was a really big choke, too bad they couldn’t have just pulled out 3 other games.
As for the Yankees, the other choker banners that immediately come to mind are 2001 (another Riveria choke job) and 1960 (Bill who?).
Remember: only one team in MLB history has ever blown a 3-0 series lead in the playoffs. Ever. Only one team has ever come back from 3-0 down to win.

  • Why ’67, the year of the “Impossible Dream”, a team that was never supposed to come close with Lonborg pitching on like 4 hours rest in game 7? Or ’75? That wasn’t really a choke, just a heartbreaker against a great ballclub. Bats could have left it at ’03, ’86, and ’78 and it would’ve served him a whole lot better. But why expect a Yankees fan not to overreach?

Enjoy the f’ing moment. You won. Stop groveling in the dirt.
The same team that lost once 3 – 0 won the WORLD SERIES 26 times, many times at the expense of the Red Sox.
    What’s that? 26 – 2? Sheesh.

  • Sorry, but the way some of the Nation continues its schadenfreude after winning the Series is such a bummah.

  • OK, for the last time – those who can’t get their facts right CAN’T use the Yankees 26 titles as leverage over us Sox fans. The Sox have NOT – repeat – NOT – won only 2 titles. Look it up. Get it right.
    End of tirade.
