Doans™ Back Report: Yankee Edition

Yeah, we’ve heard. Carl Pavano strained his back. And he’s got our sympathy, because we, too, strained a few muscles last week assembling Ikea crap for the latest addition to Yankee Nation. Hurts like a mother. The upshot for the Bombers? Maybe Pavano doesn’t pitch off a mound until March 1. Which means maybe—maybe—he misses a turn or two in the rotation once the season begins. A little less wear and tear at the beginning of the season? Sounds like a good thing. And let’s keep in mind that it was his shoulder, not his back, that was the problem last year. Are the two related? Is the guy injury prone? What’s Dick Cheney’s bird-to-man kill rate? Who knows? The powers that be don’t always tell all. So we’re not going to worry. Anyway, he can always call 1-800-BOO-MER3 to hook up with the MLB Starters Back-Trouble Support Group.

  • I can only imagine the (deserved) backlash from Yankees fans if I spun an early Beckett injury into something like “hey, he gets a rest at the start of the year and maybe that’s a good thing since he’ll be stronger late in the season”.

  • Both myself, and my bank account absolutely love the Yankee’s pitching staff.

  • Sometimes, I crack myself up.
Also, way to think of that whole “Yankee Nation” thing, YF. It’s original, and I like it.
