Pete Abraham reports that the Yankees purchased Shelley Duncan’s contract. His line in SWB:
Avg | G | AB | R | H | 2B | 3B | HR | RBI | BB | K | OBP | SLG |
.295 | 91 | 336 | 58 | 99 | 18 | 1 | 25 | 79 | 45 | 82 | .380 | .577 |
Pete didn’t have word on who is packing, but if my name initials were KT, I think I might call and see if my old apartment is still available. If this move means Damon sees a bit less time at the plate while he recovers from whatever is vexing him, I’m all for it. But if it means more JD/less Melky in center..no it couldn’t mean that. Anything but that.
I pull for guys who are closer to thirty than twenty and still in the minors – even when they deserve to be there. Awesome for him.
Watched him play in the AAA All-Star Game, he’s got some power. He’s a late bloomer like his brother. Maybe we catch lightning in a bottle, who knows….
indeed let’s hope this means less playing time for Damon and continued everyday time for Melky. I mean it basically has to be. Damon has been brutal and you have to believe this is a response to his struggles.
That’s extremetly late, Trisk.
Yeah Damon is contributing Zero right now.
This D-Rays series is a big one, feels good to be playing better ball, let’s see if it continues!
your fears are realized, gerb. check out pete abe’s lineups. someone shoot me in the face.
It’s hard to recover from an acute case of Running His Ass In To Walls Every Game Every Season He’s Played.

Trying to talk myself into thinking this is no biggy .. it could be only for one game. Yeah, I suppose they could be giving Melky a rest day since he’s been in what seems like every game since late May, but he is .365 since July 1st so why sit him at this moment? Yeah Damon’s a vet, but he’s one of the ultimate team mate good guys, he would understand the kid is on a tear right now, wouldn’t he?. Yeah, he’s expensive to have on the pine, but who cares if you are winning? Yeah, it’s only one game and everyone wants to get a look at Duncan so why not put Johnny in the field for a game to see if it helps his bat, but will getting *more tired* really help hitting? Yeah, he’ll get to the catchable balls, but what about the uncatchable ones, don’t they need to get back to the field in a rapid, accurate manner, something that he is *never* going to be able to do?
This just bothers me intensely. I don’t want to and will not use the word “turning point”, but GoodThingsâ„¢ really started to happen when Melky was in the line-up every day. How much his addition, or the subtraction of JD from center, or the subtraction of JG period had to do with everything, I dunno. I just want the kid out there. *sigh*
Correction: Johnny has one assist
What, he lent someone his Metrocard after a game?
AG, relax brother! Did you watch the game yesterday? Melky is just still sore. I think we ALL can agree we want Melky out there. Everything will be just fine, deep breath!
Go Yanks.

Thanks, John. I know about his testy oblique, and there’s the day night on Saturday. All good reasons to give him the night off. But I get this nagging “feeling”…
