Elimination Day? Sox-Jays Gamer XVIII

A win today eliminates the Blue Jays and Twins. If the Yanks lose tonight, they’d be gone, as well, from the playoff hunt, and the Red Sox would officially be going to the postseason for the fifth time this decade — a team record. If not today, then perhaps tomorrow. We don’t want to actively root against the Yankees in their home closer, even if we’re not actually rooting for them to win either.

Sox have a 1-0 lead moving to the bottom of the first, thanks to Jacoby Ellsbury’s triple and your future AL MVP’s 80th RBI on a sac fly.

  • Great 7 IP from Dice-K.
And nice game for Ellsbury too, so far.

  • Great game.
If the Yankees lose tonight it will both eliminate them and guarantee the Red Sox a playoff spot. What a way to close out Yankees stadium.
My apologies for the schadenfreude, YF’s. If Pettitte throws a perfect game that will be equally cool in my eyes.

  • Why are the Yankees not ending their season at home in Yankee Stadium? Does MLB’s scheduler have no sense?
