Ichiro lines to right to lead off the M’s first.
Gutierrez hints bunt, but Pettitte misses away. The next pitch just misses the corner. The 2-0 is taken for a strike. 2-1: lined to right, advancing Ichiro to second with no outs. Sigh.
Here we go,Pettitte,damn
Lopez goes the other way as well, doubling to the RF corner. 1-0 Seattle, with Lopez on second and Gutierrez on third, still no outs as Junior comes to the plate.
Griffey grounds out 4-3, scoring a run.
This ump has a tight plate.
Branyan can’t resist Pettitte’s cut and is behind 1-2.
Very tight, differently from the last night’s ump.
Pettitte misses low with a fastball. Deuces: another cutter and Branyan is down swinging. That was big.
That 1-0 looked like a strike on the inside corner.
This could have been a huge inning. Thanks to Andy experience it wasn’t.
Hannahan is too close to Hanrahan from “Slap Shot” for me to not start quoting Reggie Dunlop.
Jorge hits a deep shot to right center that looked like it bounced off the top of the wall. Replay time.
AG, why aren’t you at the game?
I’m listening to the radio, is it possible that Posada’s was a HR?
Looks like a HR for Jorge…we shall see.
Yes, looks like it hit above the Yellow line.
Scheduling issues.. was at the Chi Sox/M’s on Tuesday, but needed to be back in Portland on Thursday. Plus, hotels are impossible to afford when the Yanks are in town.
> impossible to afford
actually, that’s not fair. I’m just cheap and broke.
Ok so “Freeze Cam” shows it hit the yellow line…Darn.
You are telling the wrong one AG…I have a 12 game package for the Yankees, I have been giving away my seats simply because I’d rather lose $12, than spend $100=$12…Money it tiiiiiight.
Gonna get pissed at this ump. Rowland-Smith got a gift on that first pitch. Three of Pettitte’s pitches were closer that went for balls than the first strike to Cano. He grounds out, pushing Posada to third.
I guess the umps go down there just to drink a beer and talk small talk, like, man, that bang bang was close and then come back and say it’s a double. Aww.
Texas 4-2 man on 2nd, 7th inning
I get you, John. The ball game would have been cheap. It’s just not cheap to stay in Seattle anywhere near the park, plus the missus and I like to party. Our bar tab gets pretty brutal when we go to Seattle.
It was good to see the game Tuesday, but I’m glad to be back home with my son.
Hustle,JR. 2-1 boys!
Fixing to eat dinner. Enjoy the game, all.
Thanks,AG,and let’s go Pett!
John, what days is your 1e-game package for? I kept mine from last year but they bumped me to the least desirable games (Mon, Tues, with a few Wed/Thurs thrown in).
Can’t watch the game tonight – has Pettitte settled at all from the first or is it looking like one of his scuffle-all-night games?
He seems to have settled,he had 4 Ks on the last 5 outs.
I take that back, leadoff single to Suzuki(OK,that’s the usual,Ichiro hitting) and 4 pitch walk to Gutierrez. Let’s see him get out of this.
Popup to Damon,1 out. And Andy 56 pitches through 2.1 IP.Whew
Popup to Jeter by Griffey. So far so good at getting into and out of unnecessary trouble.
Flyout to Swish(RF) by Branyan. Attaboy Andy. Now get some iced towel on this arm.
IH, they bumped me from Sunday to weeknights…random crappy weeknights. I had tix this past Monday. Hopefully I get Sundays back next season.
Crappy team Texas.Giving up leads,Francisco is a joker
Capn’ clutch ties in a grouder to LF after the WP.After Boston blew through the Texas closer we gotta win here.
Yanks got some gift runs but AP is hanging in there, despite looking pretty awful..
I mean, he looked pretty awful earlier on. He’s actually pretty steady since then.. relatively..
Gettin on,Lar,struck out the side, but not being economic, lots of pitches to do it. 96 pitches thru 5 IP
John, I think we’ve got the same dates – I had tic to Monday which I gave up as I’m on the west coast. Next game is a rare day game a week from next Thursday. Made the mistake of “upgrading” from bleachers to tier box. Paying almost 4x the price for seats that I think are worse than the bleachers (at least those bleachers that are not obstructed).
Andy and AJ have one thing in common – when they struggle they often seem to find a way to scuffle through and limit damage.
Late-inning thunder…this team’s specialty. Teix has been tremendous this year. Hope Mo’s arm is feeling up to it tonight.
Teix delivers.Want to see on TV or internet this homer by Teix.Gameday and radio made it sound and look like it was 500 ft deep. And what about Hairston. As I said before, fitting right in the lineup and defense.Enter Sandman!
Ya, that was a huge huge shot, both in clutchness and how far it was hit. Pretty much knew off the bat.
Yanks win. Go Yanks! 30 games over 500!
Somehow I never once doubted that this team would lose this game.
Wow,will look for it first thing tomorrow, cause going off to bed now.Yanks look good. Great clutch 9th top and bottom,Yankees all the way.Gone, see ya later guys.
How great are these guys playing right now. Blow out – win. Pitchers duel – win. Strong starting pitching, lights-out bullpen, clutch hit after clutch hit. Amazing. If they keep playing like this they will be hard as hell for anyone to beat.
If they keep playing like this they will be hard as hell for anyone to beat.
I thought the Sox could catch them in a week and half?
;-)
The Yankee juggernaut cannot be stopped.
God save us all.
Klapisch: Yankees morphing into near-invincibility
http://www.replacementlevel.com/index.php/RLYW/comments/njcom_klapisch_yankees_morphing_into_near_invincibility
Seriously, would you guys please stop playing so well? It’s too nostalgic–in a bad way–to have the Yankees at the top of the standings destroying everyone.
Although the other side of this is that it reminds me of the great Yankees teams that storm into the playoffs and then go quietly into that good night, so to speak.
“…I thought the Sox could catch them in a week and half?…”
technically it was 10 days sf… ;)
and the key distinction was between the words “possible”, and “probable”…i’ve seen enough baseball to know that this ain’t over yet…i agreed with you when you said it was “unlikely”, but certainly not impossible…
“…reminds me of the great Yankees teams that storm into the playoffs and then go quietly into that good night, so to speak….”
amen, ath…that’s why the last 10 years or so i’ve become conditioned to be skeptical about a strong regular season showing…the playoffs are the great equalizer…especially the best of 5-ers…i was spoiled by what seemed like automatic series wins in the late 90’s, and ’00…my rude awakening came in ’01
Someday I’ll have to teach you SF about the difference between the words “hard” and “impossible” and between “possible” and “probable”. After all, we deal in a written medium here. Such distinctions are therefore very important. ;o)
