FEAR US! Yanks-Royals Gamer I

Hide your women, Royals. The enlivened giant that is the Yankees arrives today in Kansas City, fresh from carving up the Fish with all the cocky assurance of Hung, the Top Chef uber-villan with the high-velocity knife skills. What was it–153 runs in 4 days? Impressive. Your defense has little hope. Even worse, on the mound tonite for this juggernaut: The Greatest Pitcher in Baseball History. Basically, poor Royals, you’re screwed. It’s hopeless.

Oh, we forgot the best part. With Cleveland and Boston going at it, if the Yanks take 2 of 3 in this series, they are mathematically guaranteed to make up ground in either the WC or division race. A sweep nets 2 games. Onward warriors! Let this be our thread for comment, posted early, as we are so
anxious for the bloodletting to commence.

  • Oh how I can’t wait until we get to play the fish, and the Yankees play an actual decent team.

  • YF you have doomed us. Here comes the Royals sweep.

  • The White Sox aren’t quite tough competition either.

  • Give it a rest Kevin, we play the same schedule for the most part you either had your turn or will have it soon. It’s not like we have an unfair advantage.

  • Yea, the Sox could sure use a break from the good teams like the Royals and the White Sox.

  • We only hope that the Yankees suffer what will likely be the insufferable, yet skilled, Hung’s eventual fate: expulsion from contention, mostly due to singleminded and detestable cockiness in his own skills and an inability to adapt or realize he has things to improve upon.

  • The Royals aren’t even the worst in the central anymore (thanks to the Tigers and Sox!) — that would be the White Sox.
No bitching about the schedule, Sox fans. Other than the horrible near back-to-back West Coast jags earlier this season, we have nothing to complain about.

  • Incidentally, the Royals have taken series from Boston and Cleveland in succession. They aren’t necessarily the whipping boys anymore. Maybe just the spanking boys?
    That got weird.

  • I would say, schedule wise, since we have like 43,256 more games left against the D-Rays, the schedule is looking pretty good for us.

  • I don’t know, I think I would prefer 43,256 more games against the White Sox than the D-Rays.

  • At least the D-Rays can hit. But nobody can compare to their pitching. The entire Scranton staff would run circles around that lot. Yes, even Colter Bean, although his body type really kind of mandates standing in one place and watching, lest he become exhausted.

  • Um…has anyone seen how the Royals have been playing recently? I agree Paul SF…these aren’t you typical Royals…They’ve been playing pretty good ball as of late, and you don’t want to get to their bullpen for once. Here’s to the Royals keeping that magic going.

  • Over/under on Yankees’ runs tonight?
    Line set at 7.

  • I think the overs are going to take it, perhaps by the fourth inning.

  • YF, thanks for the post. It’s a four-game series, though, so we need to win at least three. I’m pulling for Cleveland simply because they have a tougher schedule after this series with Boston than the Red Sox do. But this is really the best of all worlds for the Yankees, provided they win these games.
