Features Update

Thanks for all the contributions made by you as readers and commentators here at YFSF. We are working on some new (well, at least to us) ideas for added content and support material that will hopefully make your visits to YFSF more enjoyable and informative. Our most-recent addition is a League Standings section on the right side column, with embedded links to the incomparable baseball-reference.com. Shortly, we hope to add more dynamic datatypes, such as recent scores and relevant feeds. If you have an idea about something that you would like to see, or comments and recommendations about the material currently available, we encourage you to comment in this article and/or contact us at yanksfansoxfan at hotmail dot com.

Thank you again for making this such an enjoyable site.

  • Like the standings on here…
Perhaps move it to the top of the page and the reading list down a little?

  • Good idea, Rob; definitely worth thinking about. It’s a long list. If I can figure out how to “fold” the section it so it shows AL-East at first, and then opens up onClick to show the rest?

  • We all owe a huge THANKS to the Gerb, our technical guru, for making this happen. It’s a great feature. I think we’re all going to find the links to the BR stats superhandy. Bravo.

  • Sounds like a plan Gerb. I also like the Team link in the standings to Baseball reference page.
I’m not a web page designer, so I am not really sure how the fold thing can be done. I do have some friends who are and can check with them. If I get some info I will shoot it your way.

  • On my blog I just simply entered the standings on a spreadsheet and then fed the spreadsheet cells to my blog…
But ugh be damned if I remember to update everynite lol.
I of course only show the AL East cause well who cares about everyone else :p

  • The standings refresh every hour. How current they are is dependent upon the source from which we pull the stats.
The idea of being able to collapse the section is a fine one. I’m working on it now.

  • Scores now show up in the sidebar for yesterday/today/tomorrow. Links are to ESPN.

  • How about throwing the Wild Card standings into the mix? Since one of us inevitably needs to participate in that race each year.

  • Pete, good idea. I’ll work on adding a column for that.

  • ag – the javascript for that is actually pretty trivial – and there are plenty of libraries for that..
