Firstly: Yanks-Royals Gamer III

With Boston falling to Toronto and Baltimore facing the Twins, the Yankees continue their defense of first place in KC today as Andy Pettitte and the Bombers look for their fourth win in a row, now up against the Royals and James Shields. The Yankees have faced Shields 26 times over the course of his career, and have 27 dingers off the former Satan Fish. This is the first time they’ve faced him since he became a Royal, and the change of scenery has done well for the 31-year-old. He has given up only 3 long balls in 50 innings, more than 50% off his career rate, and his whip is a miserly .960; let’s regress those numbers to the mean, boys.

  • Mo gets two groundouts. Perez doubles to right. Mike Moustakas works a long a bat, getting the count full, but then flies out to center. Ballgame. Yankees win. And the Twins are up on the Birds 8-5.
