Former Prospect Westmoreland Retires

The long, tortuous route back to the field rehabbing from two brain operations has ended…in a manner no one would have wished for. According to his Twitter feed, he plans to pursue a degree and work in baseball in a different manner. So rehab hasn’t really ended, maybe, just taken a different route.

Godspeed, Ryan. Wish I could have seen you play at Fenway.

  • I sincerely hope his health continues to maintain. Thank goodness the problem was discovered and dealt with. *Perspective moment*

  • I wanted so much for Westy to complete his comeback and play again. I wanted the miracle. But I began to realize it probably wouldn’t happen when he had his second surgery.
We cling to these stories because we all appreciate the miracle. Lance Armstrong was supposed to be the miracle, but alas, he was a fraud. So I turned to Westy.
As gerb said, at least he has his health, and hopefully his full faculties. Perhaps GMing is in his future.
    Good luck, kid.
