Friday Night Chatter

For those housebound, treat this as an all-purpose Sox/Yanks open thread to discuss tonight’s shenanigans.  I’ll start it out by stating that I am at home, forced to watch the awful Ken Harrelson-led White Sox broadcast of tonight’s Boston/Chicago matchup instead of my beloved NESN.  Thanks, Directv.

  • God, Harrelson refers to EVERY player by their first name. He’s actually making me yearn for the blowhard Sterling…

  • Meanwhile, looks like the Leiter Honeymoon may be over. Tonight we seem to have the same pitcher DFA’ed by the Marlins. Props to A-Rod for the nice baserunning however. And how about that catch in center by Bubba. Defense in center. Wow. Almost forgot what that looks like. And on the subject of defense, we recommend tuning into BBTN this evening for a look at an all-time web gem from the Buc’s Wilson-Castilla double-play combo. One of the several joys of this season was watching those two pick it in a series against the Yanks during interleague. And tonight they outdid themselves.

  • 153 games total for the red sox, and, three seasons as color man along side Dick Stockton…how does this homer for the sox(white that is) have staying powerwith us? i admit i had a fondness for him growing up, but, after listening to him on WEEI yesterday, he makes me long for the days of Johnny Most!

  • Staying power? The guy is so bad I turned the sound off and listened to the MLB radio simulcast. Which was THREE PITCHES BEHIND the tv broacast. And I didn’t care.

  • The Hawk. You can hear the man’s plaid blazers over the radio.

  • Boo to the Angels for having a Saturday night game: 10:05 PM New York time.
The pitching has to get better or we’re going to drop out of the race. Leiter will have better games than tonight.
