I don’t care that Beckett went golfing on a day off after he was announced as a scratch. I am surprised that at this point in his career playing for Boston that he doesn’t know better than to go golfing on a day off after he was announced as a scratch. A subtle, important difference, and until he learns it he will always be playing from the weeds. Unless he goes out and pitches a scoreless game and then everyone will forgive him for five days anyway.
Beckett is pitching against the Tribe at Fenway, who send their old friend Derek Lowe to the bump. Remember to replace your divots and comment away.

Sigh.
4-1, top 3.
Homers to Kipnis, Hannahan.
Beckett can’t make it out of the 3rd.

A ‘gotsta make a twilight special tee time’ joke would be too easy, right?
yes, too easy.
I usually don’t blast a player for a performance. Sometimes these things happen or maybe there is an injury or something. But when a player doesn’t care, as evident by Beckett’s post game comments (his in game body language also looked like he didn’t care) he is done as far as I’m concerned.
Maybe he needs to go talk to a shrink or something because he just doesn’t seem to have the mental makeup to play for the Sox. I used to think his odd year/even year numbers were somewhat due to bad/good luck, now I think there is something wrong in his head. If he has to have a bad season to get himself up for the following season it has to be a mental thing.
I can’t believe I’m going to type these words, but I’m thinking when Dice-K is ready Beckett goes on the DL for some sort of “back” ailment.
Things started to reach the “Okay, this IS pretty funny” stage last night…watching a circus.
Far be it for a YF to say, but Beckett is acting like a moron. The disdainful post-game press conference was embarrassing. Did he or didn’t he miss a start because of a sore lat? If he did miss a start due to a sore lat, is it not legit for the press corps to ask him why he was golfing that same week? It needn’t be made into a massive issue, but is it not legit? How long has he been playing in the Boston media pressure cooker? The guy sounds and acts like a spoiled brat.
take me out to the golf course…
take me out to the tee…
buy me some chicken and ice cold beer…
i don’t care if i ever leave here…
blah, blah, blah, blah…
too lazy to fill in the rest…sorry sox fans…it’s been fair game around here to poke fun at the nonsense some of our players pull *cough*arod*cough* so, this seems fair…as a yf, there are still some likable players on your team, but this guy isn’t one of them…the complete disrespect for the fans epecially makes me angry…some of the media got it right…it’s not about golf…any “non-baseball” physical activity, without the supervision or approval of a trainer or doctor, a day or 2 after missing a start due to a physical ailment should raise an eyebrow or 2…his flippant dismissal of it as being none of “our” business makes him look like a complete a$$hole…bobby v seems content in blowing it off too…so much for his butt-kicking reputation…not much to celebrate about the yankees right now either, but to this point, it looks like sox fans may have the tougher season…
dc – make all the fun you want at Beckett’s expense, don’t think most Sox fans will mind
