While we’re on the subject of Baltimore, let me just put in a plug for the old Alma Mater. The Johns Hopkins men’s lacrosse team, defending national champs, plays #1 seeded Duke in the semifinals of the NCAA tournament this coming weekend. Earlier this year, Duke trounced JHU 17-6 at Durham. It was the Jays fifth—fifth!—consecutive loss, including a string of three straight defeats in sudden-death OT. After that dismal stretch, the team has somehow rebounded and made it to the sport’s Final Four. So this is something this Yankee fan will take some heart in. As bad as things are, a quick turnaround is not impossible. And I close with our Fight Song:
To win, to win, you’d like the hell to win
But you’ll have to wait ’till the moon turns green
And the brass band plays god shave the dean.
Hi lo. Hi lee.
It’s plain as ABC.
If anyone’s going to win today
It’s We! We! We!
Okay, it’s not exactly The Victors. Whatever! GO JAYS! GO YANKS! WE WANT MORE!!!
