Miguel Cairo, the sometimes-maligned yet eminently-likable by all _complete_ journeyman has landed a contract with the Mariners. I had already put a couple Seattle games on my calendar; I hope I get to see him.
Count me as one of the guys that love seeing Miggy get another job, because he’s 100% more baseball player than I could ever hope to have been, and he’s _that_ guy, the guy I would love to buy a drink or buy his dinner and thank him for all the enjoyment he gave me. My guess is he is would insist on buying the next round, or even more likely, thank me and excuse himself to get his rest because he has to go to work tomorrow, but he just doesn’t know where.
A moment of silence: Joe Girardi just lost his favorite Yankee hitter.
Luis Sojo died??
Haha, I was referring to the following exchange, which AG actually brought to my attention sometime after Girardi was hired:

[S]emirelated note on the Phillips-Cairo situation: Joe Girardi was going on and on on FOX this Saturday about how great a 1B and hitter Miguel Cairo was… Have fun with that next year, guys!

Paul, another reason why I’m not super excited about Girardi taking over. Ozzie Guillen I say all the way!

I guess I should have some explaining to do. But I can’t. “My comments were taken out of context.” Yeah, that will suffice. Probably not.
Is it too late to boldface “another” job? Wow… I just got slam dunked.
It was Michael Kay who dubbed Cairo the ‘best .240 hitter you’ll ever see’, right?
