Sterling has made a habit of walking over to the dessert table and dipping his finger into the ice cream barrel
God, we love Page Six.

It’s just Sterling being Sterling. The charm never wears off.

hahah. So lucky you thought to add this.
We have the worst announcers…I do like Kenny Singleton though. I would love to hear him every game as opposed to Kay.
…of course I’m spoiled since my hockey team has the greatest announcer in the history of recorded time…Rick Jeanerret!!! Any of you that are hockey fans surely know the dulcid tones of Rick.
I do like Singleton. He’s actually pretty enjoyable to listen to.
I will say this, the strength of Yankee fans is tested to the extreme having to listen to your announcers, I honestly don’t think I could stick with it for a full season.
Yeah, we’re really spoiled with Remy and Orsillo. I know that sounds biased, but most of the friends that I’ve let use mlb.com (who aren’t Sox fans) LOVE Remy and Orsillo whenever they hear them call a game. They’re not very homerish, they aren’t biased on calls, and they’re about as objective as you can get while talking about players.
Orsillo seems like a boring rip-off of McDonough (sp?). I like Remy but I find Don O just dull.
I agree to an extent Nick, what makes Orsillo, for me at least, is the kid brother relationship he has with Remy. He can’t open his mouth, or put on a suit, without worrying about how Remy is going to rip on him. Other than that, he’s a solid play by play guy.
The Sox broadcast team is good. They definitely aren’t homers too bad. Have you guys heard the Rays broadcasters? Man-perm is the WORST! Biggest homer in the world. It was hard watching Yankees vs. Rays games when I lived in Tampa…
Dude Krueg I know exactly who you’re talking about, I’m forced to watch them on mlb.tv whenever the Sox play in Tampa. He looks like he was teleported to our time from 1987.
Ath: Man-fro is the worst announcer in the history of professional sports. Even worse than Morgan!!!! The guy was such a Yankee hater and it showed in his broadcasts. I remember last year he was going off on cano for how long it took him to get in the box, so much so he was literally counting off the seconds between pitches on air. What a douche. I can’t imagine what a smug prick he must be this year…
Yeah Krueg, what makes him especially annoying is that he has a crappy voice. It’s a little bit nasal and it’s like nails on a chalkboard for me. At least Joe Morgan has a kick-ass voice, even when he says stupid things with it.
Great tidbit. Reminds me of my days in the newspaper business. I had a co-worker who used to bring paper bags to the pre-game press meals and take home all of the leftover hot dogs.
True story. I can’t make up crap that good.
And no bitching about sports announcers until you’ve lived through the atrocious voices we have here in Chicago. Although Steve Stone, who is fantastic, is SOMEHOW starting to make Ed Farmer bearable on White Sox radio.
But there is no worse analyst than Ron Santo. He loudly cheers the hits, over play-by-play man Pat Hughes, and quite audibly moans and groans the outs.
When Sterling sticks his finger in the ice cream, does he shout, “IT IS COLD — IT IS SWEET — IT IS…. GOOOD! IT’S A FINGLING… BY STERLING!”?
(Really, I think Sterling’s dumb wordplays seem aimed at his 10-year-old listeners.)
First – I *hate* Sterling and Waldman and really like Remy and Orsillo but…
It’s interesting to me that some SFs here take Page 6 verbatim (including to post about a story there), but manage to find problems with a ProJo piece. Love really is blind. Why let the source get in the way of a good story (or vice versa if it involves a star slugger)?
