  • Quiet here tonight? Go Yanks!

    Lar October 17, 2009, 8:20 pm
  • Apparently ARod has the most HRs among active players against the Angels. Not surprising, I guess, since he played for Seattle and Rangers for awhile..
Too bad he does nothing with that pitch..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 8:24 pm
  • Cano with a two out triple and the Yanks take a 1-0 lead!!

    Lar October 17, 2009, 8:30 pm
  • Cano stranded at third on a Melky strike out on ball 4. Still, 1-0 lead.

    Lar October 17, 2009, 8:33 pm
  • Getting pho and curry… Home soon to eat spicy food, drink beer and watch the game. Thanks for the update Lar!

    attackgerbil October 17, 2009, 8:39 pm
  • AJ throwing strikes and Angels trying with their patient attack are falling mostly behind in the count..
Jeter had to rush that throw, and made Teixeira stretch that one out again.. no complaints this time though from the Angels..
    Here’s Figgins.

    Lar October 17, 2009, 8:40 pm
  • 1-2 on Figgins and AJ loses him to a walk. Abreu now up with two outs.

    Lar October 17, 2009, 8:42 pm
  • Pho and curry sounds good, haha..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 8:43 pm
  • AJ paying tons of attention to Figgins, with 3 or 4 straight throwovers..
And first pitch ball to Abreu..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 8:44 pm
  • Abreu flying out to CF, with Figgins running. End of 2.5.

    Lar October 17, 2009, 8:46 pm
  • JETER goes the other way for a HR, 2-0 Yanks.

    Lar October 17, 2009, 8:52 pm
  • Beautiful night at the stadium despite the doomsday predictions.
    Jeter THE MAN (again)

    IronHorse October 17, 2009, 9:04 pm
  • Two stretches by Tex. Seriously, we lived with Giambi for that long?

    Lar October 17, 2009, 9:04 pm
  • AJ hits Morales on a 1-2 pitch with two outs. Let’s hope Rivera does not make him pay..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 9:05 pm
  • Gets out of that one, with Rivera grounding out. End of 3.5, Yanks up 2-0.

    Lar October 17, 2009, 9:07 pm
  • Teixeira actually not hitting that well this post season, minus that HR in Minny. That said, his defense might be enough..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 9:08 pm
  • Izturis with a lead off double..
Napoli flies out to Melky, one out.

    Lar October 17, 2009, 9:19 pm
  • Aybar with a one out single and now it’s a 2-1 game..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 9:21 pm
  • Aybar steals second.

    Lar October 17, 2009, 9:23 pm
  • AJ now in some funk, as Abreu is up with one out, men on first and second..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 9:26 pm
  • Abreu flies out close to foul territory near the wall in left field.. two outs, but here’s the dangerous Hunter..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 9:33 pm
  • AJ behind in the count to Hunter 2-0..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 9:34 pm
  • Hunter walks.. the 2-2 pitch was close, but yaaa..
Here’s Vlad with bases loaded two outs.. bracing for impact..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 9:37 pm
  • AJ has been wild, and with a wild pitch to Vlad, the game is tied..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 9:40 pm
  • Vlad grounds out on the next pitch. The wild AJ might cost them a bit..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 9:41 pm
  • AJ….. Oof. That was difficult to watch. Get it back.

    attackgerbil October 17, 2009, 9:43 pm
  • Melky!

    attackgerbil October 17, 2009, 9:44 pm
  • That half inning took half an hour.. or so..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 9:46 pm
  • Molina working the count, haha.. I thought Joe might give him the hook..
But now a 3-2 pitch to Molina..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 9:47 pm
  • Saunders is forgetting he is pitching to molina.

    attackgerbil October 17, 2009, 9:48 pm
  • Molina singles to right and now the Yanks threaten with the top of the lineup up..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 9:48 pm
  • Jeter up.. Saunders at 76 pitches..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 9:49 pm
  • Jeter with a DP and might kill the rally..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 9:50 pm
  • Bad call at first.

    attackgerbil October 17, 2009, 9:51 pm
  • 2nd time the Yanks have a man on third with two outs.. let’s see if they cash in this time..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 9:51 pm
  • And the Yanks did nothing with two lead off hits. Bad hitting might catch up to them..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 9:53 pm
  • Jeter was safe. Period. Close play? Yes. Bad call? Yes. Pivotal situation? Yes. Typical of this post-season? Yes.

    IronHorse October 17, 2009, 9:55 pm
  • Tex gets on base from an error, but nothing comes of it.. end of 6, we got a close one, 2-2.

    Lar October 17, 2009, 10:08 pm
  • AJ leaves with okay numbers, but his wildness cost him a chance at victory. The Yanks also did not help him out much with their offense..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 10:16 pm
  • Coke is up, and we’ll see what he does with Figgins..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 10:17 pm
  • Hey Coke, they don’t have to steal if you walk them..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 10:21 pm
  • Crazy high leverage situations and Joba strikes Vlad out to preserve the tie. He can scream as much as he wants on that one, holy smokes.
Hunter had a lucky base hit..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 10:35 pm
  • Joba iz Joba.

    doug YF October 17, 2009, 10:37 pm
  • Not sure I agree with pinch-running for Swisher in the 7th. It’s not like they have a good hitter on the bench should his spot come up again.

    AndrewYF October 17, 2009, 10:41 pm
  • Yanks with yet another double play to erase lead off hits.. bah.

    Lar October 17, 2009, 10:47 pm
  • Very poor showing by the offense tonight.

    AndrewYF October 17, 2009, 10:47 pm
  • Saunders got let off the hook tonight, big time.

    doug YF October 17, 2009, 10:51 pm
  • Also a poor showing by the defense (excepting Teixeira of course), making errors on two routine plays.
Good on Joe to go to Rivera.

    AndrewYF October 17, 2009, 10:58 pm
  • They got to score..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:04 pm
  • Yankee bats have just been put to sleep. A-Rod walkoff leading off the ninth, I’m calling it right here.

    AndrewYF October 17, 2009, 11:07 pm
  • 1-2-3, and now it’s sudden death time..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:08 pm
  • Well, Tex leads off the inning, but ya..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:08 pm
  • Jepsen has nasty stuff. Angels should really have him close instead of Fuentes. I can’t wait for the Yankees to tee off on that guy in the 9th.

    doug YF October 17, 2009, 11:09 pm
  • doug, Jepsen’s gonna pitch the 9th, too. You can’t use your closer on the road without a lead, you know that.

    AndrewYF October 17, 2009, 11:14 pm
  • Mo is so good. I don’t know if I would take the risk and leave him out for another one, but let’s hope we won’t have to answer that question!

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:16 pm
  • Damn, Rivera can easily pitch another inning.

    AndrewYF October 17, 2009, 11:16 pm
  • Ace is available, and he’s been key for us, but ya, let’s really hope we don’t have to find out.
The AJ gift run looms huge.

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:17 pm
  • Torii Hunter got taken to school on the kindergarten bus. Just disgusting.

    doug YF October 17, 2009, 11:17 pm
  • AJ had one of the worst great starts I’ve ever seen. There were only two good swings on him the whole game and then he beat himself with his wildness.

    doug YF October 17, 2009, 11:19 pm
  • ARod, let’s go home.

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:20 pm
  • If not for that wild pitch, this game would be over by now…

    AndrewYF October 17, 2009, 11:22 pm
  • Matsui with a single, and Guzman is pinch running, with Gardner at the plate.

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:25 pm
  • Gardner slaps it to right and Guzman to third with two outs. A hit would win it..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:27 pm
  • Cano with a chance to win it. Of course, the Angels could return the favor by throwing a wild pitch..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:28 pm
  • Cano with a tapper and we go to extra innings..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:29 pm

    doug YF October 17, 2009, 11:30 pm
  • Mo staying in. No one questioning this move, really.

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:31 pm
  • Of course no one’s questioning it, he was at 12 pitches.

    AndrewYF October 17, 2009, 11:32 pm
  • Rivera said I got it and gets it..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:35 pm
  • Holy crap A-Rod. The two Yankees no one wants to even come close to colliding.

    AndrewYF October 17, 2009, 11:35 pm
  • Andrew ;) Are you calling me Buck for staying the obvious? ;P

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:35 pm
  • Wow, thought that might drop, but good D by the Yanks and Cano and we’ll go to the bottom of the 10th..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:37 pm
  • Thank god Cano has some seriously good range. Screw UZR.

    AndrewYF October 17, 2009, 11:37 pm
  • Melky, Posada, Jeter. Let’s do this.

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:38 pm
  • Okay, technically Rivera could start the 11th, but I don’t think he will. Yankees better win here, because as much as I love Aceves, I don’t see him getting out of this alive.

    AndrewYF October 17, 2009, 11:38 pm
  • Darren. Oliver. Let’s destroy this guy and go home.

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:40 pm
  • Whither Brian Fuentes? Here we go in the soft underbelly of the Angels’ pen.

    doug YF October 17, 2009, 11:41 pm
  • Melky with a lead off single, and Posada, let’s do something, and I don’t mean double play..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:43 pm
  • You got to be effing me.
Wait, apparently he did not tag second, uh oh. This is going to be a huge call either way..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:44 pm
  • Well, not uh oh for the Yanks. Now Jeter and Damon with a chance to win it.
He clearly did not touch the base, but the old “neighborhood” play rule applies, maybe.. I’ll take it..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:45 pm
  • Wow, break for the Yankees here, but that makes up for the Jeter blown call.

    AndrewYF October 17, 2009, 11:46 pm
  • They IBB Jeter to face Damon and maybe set up for yet another DP..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:46 pm
  • You got to win when the baseball gods give you a gift. Let’s drive this thing in..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:47 pm
  • JD with a pop out, and it’s all up to Tex with two outs..

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:49 pm
  • The Yanks do not take advantage, and we go to the 11th.

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:51 pm
  • Ace now pitching.

    Lar October 17, 2009, 11:54 pm
  • Aceves is in, and now it’s raining. It’s like god just threw up his hands and said “well, I tried”.

    AndrewYF October 17, 2009, 11:55 pm
  • Walk coming back to haunt them. Story of the game so far: Yanks not effing hitting.

    Lar October 18, 2009, 12:05 am
  • Pandemonium.

    doug YF October 18, 2009, 12:12 am
  • A-Rod having one of the most unbelievable postseasons ever. Holy shit.

    AndrewYF October 18, 2009, 12:12 am
  • If there’s any time for a “fuck ya”, that was it. I woke up some neighbors, but fuck them for not watching the game.

    Lar October 18, 2009, 12:13 am
  • Cano grounds into the no doubles defense, and we go to the 12th. Let’s hold this, and let’s fucking win this.

    Lar October 18, 2009, 12:18 am
  • Glad I got to see that. The rain made that super slomo shot look amazing

    attackgerbil October 18, 2009, 12:20 am
  • Game not won yet.. middle of the Angels lineup up.

    Lar October 18, 2009, 12:20 am
  • Ace is done. Really? I thought he was the long relief..

    Lar October 18, 2009, 12:23 am
  • This kind of sucks that Robertson is the second-to-last man out of the bullpen. Even Marte is ahead of him. They should have left him off the roster so Girardi wouldn’t be tempted like this. Although I guess it’s good to turn Morales around in this park.

    AndrewYF October 18, 2009, 12:23 am
  • Marte, you got to be kidding me.

    Lar October 18, 2009, 12:23 am
  • You know what, this is the right decision. Morales is terrible right-handed. .312 OBP.

    AndrewYF October 18, 2009, 12:25 am
  • Good play by ARod, strong throw. Two outs, and I guess Robertson will come in.

    Lar October 18, 2009, 12:25 am
  • Jesus, matchup games in extra innings. I guess it worked out, but Robertson better be efficient with his pitches. This game is over if Gaudin comes in.

    AndrewYF October 18, 2009, 12:25 am
  • Ya, for a switch hitter, he’s pretty awful right handed. The result was good, so I’ll save the dogs for later.. ;)

    Lar October 18, 2009, 12:25 am
  • Jeff Mathis? Really?

    AndrewYF October 18, 2009, 12:29 am
  • Double. Get it together.

    Lar October 18, 2009, 12:30 am
  • Good K. Melky, Posada, Jeter trying to win it again.

    Lar October 18, 2009, 12:33 am
  • A couple of nasty hooks from Robertson.
Please, please, please end it here.

    AndrewYF October 18, 2009, 12:33 am
  • Bases loaded for ARod, two outs. Wow.

    Lar October 18, 2009, 12:46 am
  • ARod could not come through that time. 13. I think Gaudin is coming in..

    Lar October 18, 2009, 12:47 am
  • neverending playoff game….

    doug YF October 18, 2009, 12:47 am
  • It’s Robertson, but Guzman/Gardner/Melky are coming up next inning. If Robertson can hold them here, Gaudin will be pitching the top of the 14th. Sigh.

    AndrewYF October 18, 2009, 12:49 am
  • Cano has got to get that. Aybar leading off the inning to first.. ouch.

    Lar October 18, 2009, 12:50 am
  • ….and exhale.

    doug YF October 18, 2009, 1:01 am
  • If Cano had made an error on that, I would’ve ate him for dinner.
    Let’s win this already!

    Lar October 18, 2009, 1:01 am
  • This game might be the turning point of the whole series.

    SoxFan October 18, 2009, 1:05 am
  • faklwejr;lawkejrl;awke

    Lar October 18, 2009, 1:08 am

    doug YF October 18, 2009, 1:08 am
  • What a fucking fantastic result.
None of the Yankee errors cost anything. The one Angels error cost them the game. Awesome.

    AndrewYF October 18, 2009, 1:08 am
  • Take your fundamentals and shove it. GO YANKS!!
Who gets the pie? I think it wouldn’t have been DP, but ya..

    Lar October 18, 2009, 1:08 am

    doug YF October 18, 2009, 1:12 am
  • Drunk…..on……….joy………amazing.

    IronHorse October 18, 2009, 1:14 am
  • IH – =)

    Lar October 18, 2009, 1:16 am
  • ^_________^

    doug YF October 18, 2009, 1:24 am
  • Just back from game…amazing. This team freaking rocks…6 more wins to go!

    sam-YF October 18, 2009, 2:03 am
  • And gutsy pitching by Robertson in both times he’s won in the playoffs so far. Well deserved wins both times.
And on a late note, don’t you think Joe Saunders(kudos for him for a great outing) looks like somehow he’s the older brother of Joba? Just take a look at videos or pics and think about it. ;)
