Walk and Roll

It’s only the 5th inning, but already the Sox have scored nine runs on only 3 hits.  Hard to do, until you realize that the tandem of royal ragarms DJ Carrasco and Leo Nunez walked 9 guys in the first four frames.  By the looks of the linescore, the drive to the head last week did nothing to shake Clement out of his current doldrums, so we look to the bats and the ‘pen to keep the winning streak going.  Someone go tell Matt to stick his finger in a socket.  Go Sox!

  • Who would have thought the difference between the Sox and Yanks would come down to who had a better record versus the Royals?

  • Now there’s a Yankee fan trying to spin hard.

  • How is that spin, Mr. O’Reilly?

  • If you think the difference between the Sox and the Yanks is simply that the Yanks got swept by the Royals and the Red Sox have won 2 in a row against the Royals then that’s ok by me. And that doesn’t even take care of the simple math that Bats clearly didn’t do, since you’d also have to add the phrase “plus a couple of games against the Devil Rays” to get the standings to where they are.

  • Congrats to Captain Tek on his first ever Grand Slam! Way to cap an eight run inning.

  • an ugly win, but we’ll take it.
curt giving up a gopher ball to his first batter is not encouraging, however.

  • Curt’s pitched in 8 of 9 games. How’s that ankle? I wonder if Tito is burning him up. 8 in a row, though!

  • Ugly win or no, it’s still a win. Feels like it’s been awhile since they strung a nice streak together like this. Pretty darn good, I’d say.
Hopefully the pitching will look a little sharper against the Twinkies this weekend. Radke, Santana and Mays aren’t guys you want to take lightly.
