Here We Go Again: Yanks-Sox Gamer II

The Yankees hang four on Franklin Morales in the top of the first. Freddy Garcia is on the mound now for the Yankees. Sorry for the lateness.. forgot it was an early start. Comment away.

  • Deja vu all over again. Four Yankee runs in the top of the first.

    pale_blue_eyes July 7, 2012, 1:04 pm
  • What, no Sox runs in reply?

Darnell McDonald to lead of for the Yankees in the second. Gameday has his picture with dread locks and a Yankee cap! Doctored?

  • Great scoop by Teixeira on the low throw by ARod.

    attackgerbil July 7, 2012, 1:18 pm
  • 123 for Freddy.

    attackgerbil July 7, 2012, 1:19 pm
  • Is it too early to point out that Freddy Garcia has a no-hitter going through two? Red Sox bats back in West Coast mode?

    pale_blue_eyes July 7, 2012, 1:21 pm
  • Cano down swinging, good opportunity there. Then, ARod caught in a rundown frozen off first, Teixeira to third.

    attackgerbil July 7, 2012, 1:33 pm
  • And another FREE OUT as Swisher gets picked by Morales. What a waste. Inning over.

    attackgerbil July 7, 2012, 1:39 pm
  • Great Yankee baserunning this inning …

C’mon Sox, make it a game. It feels like we’ve been playing catch-up in each and every game this season.

  • Shoppach will be competing in the hammer throw in London.

    attackgerbil July 7, 2012, 1:44 pm
  • No-hitter intact after three. The Red Sox of course are fielding a spring training line-up here, so expecting them to score some runs is probably asking too much.

Crawford probably will find another 50 ways to avoid the call-up and the season will be more or less over by the time Jacoby comes back.

Maybe I should stick to rooting for Roger Federer this weekend.

  • Oh great, another Andrew Jones homer. Did I mention this game sucks?

Not for you, Gerb, I am aware of that.

    pale_blue_eyes July 7, 2012, 1:52 pm
  • And who is Jayson Nix?

    pale_blue_eyes July 7, 2012, 1:53 pm
  • Gameday informs me that Morales has still plenty left in his tank since his fastball is still at around 93 mph. The fact that he’s given up four home runs already is of course totally irrelevant to this game.

    pale_blue_eyes July 7, 2012, 1:55 pm
  • Here we go again. That’s about right.

    I'mBillMcNeal July 7, 2012, 1:56 pm
  • It would be nice if the Red Sox didn’t have to play with a lineup better suited for Pawtucket.

    I'mBillMcNeal July 7, 2012, 1:56 pm
  • Oh, look. Gomez made an out. WHEEEE!

    I'mBillMcNeal July 7, 2012, 1:58 pm
  • My Gameday won’t load. That’s probably a good thing.

    I'mBillMcNeal July 7, 2012, 1:58 pm
  • It is getting close to the time when the Sox should deal Shop and Aviles and call up Iglesias and Lavarnway.

    I'mBillMcNeal July 7, 2012, 2:00 pm
  • Spring training legend Pedro Ciriaco didn’t strike out in his 2nd at-bat. That’s progress.

    I'mBillMcNeal July 7, 2012, 2:03 pm
  • David ends in inhumanity with the Red Sox first hit, a double.
Lets see if Gonzo can get a single.

    I'mBillMcNeal July 7, 2012, 2:04 pm
  • Ortiz fixed that no-hitter problem.

    attackgerbil July 7, 2012, 2:05 pm
  • Jones shows his arm is still pretty good.

    attackgerbil July 7, 2012, 2:05 pm
  • And it’s a single from the $20 million man. Because an XBH is too much to ask for.

    I'mBillMcNeal July 7, 2012, 2:06 pm
  • Gonzalez loops one to center on.. what was that, a slider? that didn’t move an inch out of the groove.

    attackgerbil July 7, 2012, 2:06 pm
  • another single on another slider, a better pitch, but still not getting far off the middle of the plate, and not working the corner low like he was earlier. Big man comes home. 6-1 Yanks.

    attackgerbil July 7, 2012, 2:09 pm
  • There’s the grounder he was looking for.. 643 to end it. Not nearly as bad as it was starting to feel.

    attackgerbil July 7, 2012, 2:09 pm
  • 463 rather..

    attackgerbil July 7, 2012, 2:10 pm
  • Ken: “Little bit more of a buzz in the crowd since the Red Sox scored last inning”

that, and everyone is working on their third beer since the game kinda sucks.

    attackgerbil July 7, 2012, 2:12 pm
  • Crazy. On the Chicago lakefront it’s 78. 50 miles to the west its 98.

    I'mBillMcNeal July 7, 2012, 2:13 pm
  • ARod down looking.

    attackgerbil July 7, 2012, 2:13 pm
  • Cano gets robbed of a triple.

    attackgerbil July 7, 2012, 2:14 pm
  • FWIW, Ciriaco is the 44th position player used this season by the Red Sox. Only the Padres have used more, 47.

    I'mBillMcNeal July 7, 2012, 2:15 pm
  • Pete Abe just tweeted: ‘More Valentine on Padilla: “He should throw at more people? He hasn’t been doing that this year. He’s got to get back to that I think.”‘

Wait, what? Can he endorse that publicly?

    attackgerbil July 7, 2012, 2:18 pm
  • He must have been kidding

    attackgerbil July 7, 2012, 2:20 pm
  • Pete followed that Tweet with a note that Bob was kidding.

    I'mBillMcNeal July 7, 2012, 2:20 pm
  • Just caught up to Live action now…

I had to clean the house for the UFC fight tonight, friends coming over…

    WOW! Talk about air raid???

And I don’t know what’s gotten into Freddie but he has been pitching very well.

    krueg July 7, 2012, 2:21 pm
  • Following the Middlebrooks example trading Aviles and Shoppach and calling up Iglesias and Lavernway would probably immediately result in those two getting injured.

    pale_blue_eyes July 7, 2012, 2:22 pm
  • Bases loaded with 2 outs…pinch hitter…

    Dwayne Wayne in.

    krueg July 7, 2012, 2:26 pm
  • Aww, they don’t give Darnell the chance to hurt us. How considerate.

    pale_blue_eyes July 7, 2012, 2:26 pm
  • Nada.

    Broken record.

    krueg July 7, 2012, 2:27 pm
  • I really wish Girardi would have given Darnell a chance there with the bases juiced at Fenway. Any sort of hit would have been awesome. Instead Wise hits a tapper back to the mound to end the inning.

    attackgerbil July 7, 2012, 2:27 pm
  • Gotta check out for a bit; time to get the kids outside of the house. Thanks for the company.

Back later for the night cap.

    attackgerbil July 7, 2012, 2:28 pm
  • Darren Rovel just posted this link to a photo of the 1990 A’s program.

The muscled up Canseco and McGwire are a bit ironic. Eckersley looks odd. And even the cartoon version of LaRussa looks smug.

    I'mBillMcNeal July 7, 2012, 2:30 pm
  • Beefy.

    krueg July 7, 2012, 2:34 pm
  • And Brett Lillibridge gets his hit for July.

  • This is what we’re dealing with in the Chicago area:

    I’m close to the 100.

    I'mBillMcNeal July 7, 2012, 2:36 pm
  • Freddie is an animal today.

    Totally unexpected.

    krueg July 7, 2012, 2:36 pm
  • Dude. It’s 108 here with the heat index.

It has been triple digits for over a week.

    krueg July 7, 2012, 2:37 pm
  • Same here. Just fucking brutal. But relief is mere hours away.

    I'mBillMcNeal July 7, 2012, 2:39 pm
  • Freddie’s pretty much pitching to the Pawtucket Red Sox.

    I'mBillMcNeal July 7, 2012, 2:47 pm
  • INCREDIBLE PLAY BY ANDRUUUUUUUUUW!!!!!

Makes the grab at the MON-stah and guns it back in to double-up Papi.

    Wow. That was HUGE.

No damage after what could have been disastrous.

    6-1 after 6.

    krueg July 7, 2012, 2:51 pm
  • GREAT job by Freddie.

Taken out with 2 outs in the 7th…1 run.

    krueg July 7, 2012, 3:06 pm
  • Good to know Garcia can consistently get Triple-A batters out.

    I'mBillMcNeal July 7, 2012, 3:12 pm
  • I had my doubts IBM…

    krueg July 7, 2012, 3:25 pm
  • This kid has completely saved the Sox bullpen.

Man, really let them off the hook the last few innings…

    krueg July 7, 2012, 3:37 pm
  • 6-1. F

Well, worse case scenario we split.

Now we need one more good start from either Hughes or CSN.

    Well done. HR City.

    krueg July 7, 2012, 3:46 pm
  • Was out and about with the kids all day – took them bowling and to an arcade to escape the heat. Yanks game was showing right above our lane. Sweet coincidence. Enjoyable game. Yanks and Sox going in opposite directions this past week. Curious to see what Hughes brings tonight. He’s been more consistently strong this year but still puts up stinkers from time to time…

    IronHorse - YF July 7, 2012, 4:25 pm
  • VERY curious about Phil…

    As always.
