Still working, so no pithy gerbil droppings. Can’t believe we’ve played these guys 12 times. Yanks are down early in the first with Phil on the mound and the SatanFish running at will. Comment away.

Phil pitches out of a serious jam. Could have been much, much worse.
Where you been Gerb? Haven’t seen you on in awhile.
The AAA pitching coach is with the Yanks the rest of the season. This should do some good for Phillip.
Sonnanstine – he’s got a very weird delivery
I was at a wedding of two dear friends who live here in Portland but have family in Glens Falls; they had their wedding in the Adirondacks, so we were up in the mountains for a few days. We then went back to Rochester visiting parents/grandparents/sisters/cousins etc… got back Wednesday. Great trip. I forgot what NY humidity in August felt like.
Been to Rochester before, seemed gloomy in a Pacific NW way.
Good to see you back.
Caught the top of the first on the radio.. Nice job by Hughes making it back from that tough spot giving up just 1. Sterling was absolutely predicting doom.
Meanwhile….2 games for Joba? I thought he earned the ejection, but i don’t get the suspension.
Alex with a line out to right strands DJ.
Thanks Rob.. good to be back. Rochester is pretty cloudy. Rains harder in Rochester, more often in Portland. I’m actually from outside of Rochester in the farm country, but close enough that it’s the same thing.
I don’t miss the slush on the streets in the winter. Nothing worse than getting a soaker when you step out of your car into a pothole.
Ok Phil, let’s get back to business. Did anyone notice his fastball was at 93? Good first step. Now to get him to keep everything down, and to throw that changeup.
Niether do I YF. I think that tells the a pitcher now to bean a guy. If you are going to get suspended for “throwing at someone” you might as well go the full measure.
I still am not sure that it was intentional, not a mind reader.
>Nothing worse than getting a soaker when you step out of your car into a pothole.
Or freezing waiting for a bus when you are a kid. I miss the NE, but I do not miss the harsh winters.
K on the fastball, let’s go to the bottom of the 2nd.
Phil closes the second with another swinging K. Sweet.
Rob: I know what you mean. It was a 1.5 mile walk to school (uphill, of course, not both ways, just on the way there); The bus picked up a 1/2 mile down the street, but I wasn’t allowed to walk there and catch a lift. Grr. Brr.
NEWSFLASH: The Red Sox have managed to hit tonight.
Toronto, down 1-0 to Seatle in the second, just scored 2 on a two-out triple from McDonald to go ahead 2-1.
The Crawford is SO FAST. Routine grounder to ARod is a bang-bang play. Iwamura advances to second. Heck, all the DRays seem like lightning.
Pena tries to catch a 3-1 fastball. Misses. Now he walks on the 3-1 to make it first and second to Upton. We need a grounder here.
Phil throws ball one and Guidry is immediately out to talk to him.
Upton hits a swinging bunt. ARod tries to barehand, but loses the handle. He wouldn’t have had a play. That’s an infield single to load them up.
What a bizarre play. Totally bizarre. And called wrong.
I don’t even know how to describe that play. Young flies to right. Abreu throws home. Iwamura looked out on the tag but the ump says he slid around it. Pena scores and Upton advances to third as Cano misses the catch on the relay from Jeter after Posada threw to second when he saw Upton frozen between first and second. I think. Just bizarre.
Cano and Abreu fly out to center. Two away to Damon.
and of course they can’t hit Sonnastine. Perfect.
123 inning for Sonnanstine.
The Yanks killed Sonnanstine in July.
Robi with a fine lunging grab to rob Norton of a hit to lead off the fourth.
You could almost count on the Yanks having problems tonight with the emotion of the last series.
Navarro RIPS a 1-1 on a rope but just foul up the right field line.
I always hate when old cliches get tossed around, like that todays game is a perfect let down game. I’d like to believe that this team wouldn’t be mailing it in…but seriously, this guy isn’t that good and they have one hit off him.
Navarro rips another foul ball at the tarp up first. Now he lines a drive to right for a single. He tagged every pitch he swung at.
I agree MG…but you can almost look back at the games following one of our series and see that it normally happens.
Sox-O’s now tied 2-2 on a Tejada blast.
come on, it’s the third inning against the Devil Rays. Why all the doom and gloom? Have you seen their bullpen?
Yankees have a 5 or 6 hard hit balls off him. They’re just not falling in. They’ll break through eventually.
Have you seen ours?
> Have you seen their bullpen?
Not early enough.
Phil is having serious trouble out there right now. Posada had no idea what he threw on that PB (WP).
Big K on Iwamura swinging at the cheese. Two away to the Yankeee killer.
Giambi fields the hot shot from Crawford himself to end the inning. Who is this guy at first base, and what did he do with Jason? Okay, it wasn’t that impressive, but still.
Jeter gets a single on a hard shot off Pena’s glove. Maybe E3.. probably should have had it.
Abreu hits a slow roller to Harris, who makes a nice play to first to get Abreu; Jeter to second. ARod up with one away; lines the first one foul 20′ off the left field pole. Hit it hard. Now he singles up the middleto score Jeter. The throw to the plate is late and way off line; ARod to second on the play.
Is this professional baseball?
Matsui fans on a high fastball. Two away to Posada.
Jorge flies out to left to end the inning. SatanFish 3, Yanks 1.
Pena unloads on Hughes to lead off the fifth. Just killed it. 5-1 fish.
TB now leads 6-1
Payton with a fly to shallow right. Kielty with a throw to home that is just slightly late as Huff slides in head first.
Mora advances to third on the fly.
1st and 3rd, one out. 5-3
sorry, wrong thread.
come back and just.. wtf. Grrrrr. Can we not get owned by the Rays? Please?
Now 9-1 TB
Am I seeing what I’m seeing?
¯\(º_o)/¯
Sonnanstine with 8 innings of 2 hit baseball. No walks, 5 K’s.
Must have watched footage of Clemens and Wang.
