Honest Joe

At least someone in New York gets it.

"Pedro’s one of the elite pitchers in baseball," Torre said before he spoke at Southern Methodist University, according to the Associated Press. "As a manager, you want all the toys on the shelf, there’s no question."

Torre said the Yankees need to beef up their starting rotation, which he described as "the thinnest" in his nine years as manager.

  • I’m getting the feeling that sox fans don’t want pedro anymore and want him in pinstripes to see pissed-off yankee fans. Killing two birds with one stone, as it were.

  • I’d love to see Pedro finish his career in a Sox uniform, as I stated earlier. I think it has to be at the right risk level, though, and I see the complexity in this decision. If he went to the Yankees, it would hurt, I don’t deny that. I have loved watching Pedro pitch for the Sox these past 7 years. Besides early Clemens, I have never been more amazed at watching a pitcher – being at the All-Star game in Fenway when Pedro whiffed 5 of the first 6 batters, including Bonds, McGwire, and Sosa was an experience I will never forget.
On the other hand, it would make things very interesting, particularly for our site, if he moved on! ;)
