The Yankees presented their plans for Yankee Stadium II last week in the Bronx, and it didn’t go over too well. Most of the local papers were on it, but we point you to the account at Field of Schemes, always one of our favorites. For background, check out our Ballparks thread.

The problem with the Schemers is that they are now and always will be convinced that any new stadium plan is a nefarious scheme.
Realism doesn’t mean cynicism. You can look it up.
The new Steinbrenner Stadium (yes, let’s call it this name since he will tear down the House That Ruth Built) violates all urban planning principles i.e., you just don’t put a modern mega-stadium in the middle of a neighborhood. Also the robbing the public parks (Macombs & Mullaly)for a private company sets a dangerous precedent. No park in America would be safe from the ilk of developers.
