Peter Gammons, recovered, reports on the doings in Yankeeland and RSN in a terrrific column. Highlights:
-Cash is remaking the Yankee organization, and Torre’s calm presence is responsible for making the Bronx a place players, especially Andy Pettitte, want to play. Nothing especially new here, but written with smarts.
-Sox need to have D-Mats signed by Tuesday, and shied from Gagne over injury concerns. They like their future internal options for closer, but might get stuck with Devern Hansack in that slot to open the season.
-Drew will thrive at Fenway, possibly to the tune of 125 rbis. Take that PECOTA!
-Boras has a staff of 85—more than many teams.
I should say that I read the PECOTA projection for Drew and I found it completely off. I think Drew has a perfect swing for a lefty at Fenway and expect him to benefit greatly from it in terms of his slugging numbers.
Yeah but he’s such a pussy. ;-)
Even the BP writers think PECOTA is wrong on Drew.
…and we know how brilliant writers are about such topics…
