Papelbon blows the save
Beckett with a good pitching performance, gives up one run (unearned) and gets nothing for it.
I can’t believe Francona actually argued the reversal call. What, does he think MLB rules don’t apply to the Red Sox? Pretty embarrassing.
Also, video of one of the more embarrassing displays of idiocy of the year by a player. Watch Papelbon run out of the dugout screaming when Youkilis was correctly called out at second:

I think it was one of the guys at MLB Network who got it right when he said “go sit down”. Indeed.
Ya, I don’t know how you can argued a replay call. I guess the “fan helped” ones you can argue, but these.. err.. you know, on slow relay, it really shouldn’t be hard..
Yeah, both things were pretty dumb (I dislike Francona’s arguing much more–it’s a HR, guy, I knew it when he hit it, and the cameras don’t lie).
Gee, not many comments.
I think you have to argue it out of principle, just because it’s a go-ahead homer in the 9th. Regardless of whether or not the call was correct.
What a shitty result though. We finally get a good outing from Beckett and it’s ruined in the 9th.
Yeah, but arguing out of principle oughta end with the, you know, completely definitive instant replay. Balls and strikes, sure. Close play at first, g’head, save your dude some face, but instant-replay HR should be unarguable.
