Beware the excited Red Sox fan, all high on Curt’s 8-inning effort today against the hated Bombers. No doubt that SoSH is currently filled with serial posters "welcoming Curt back" after his first decent start of the entire year. This poster will be very happy to eat crow for the rest of the year should Schilling begin repeating today’s efforts (after I called for him to shut it down), but I am not also going to raise my expectations quite yet. After all, the samples from this year are overwhelmingly terrible, so today’s effort must qualify as a statistical fluke. He was terrible as a starter, terrible as a reliever, and great today. So is reality what has happened over 20+ appearances, or the one from today? Our hopes rest with the latter, but our empirical minds tell us the former. No matter what, a nice Saturday afternoon in the Bronx (how’s that for an oxymoron?!), and all the pressure shifts back to the current bridesmaids.
