Earlier today, Buster Olney tweeted:
Leyland re: transparency of decisions, like announcing no Verlander Game 7. “I just don’t think there are a lot of secrets. Maybe I am dumb.”
Sounds pretty smart to me.
Leyland’s Tigers face the Rangers in Arlington, with Max Scherzer hoping to keep Detroit alive for a game seven, while Derek Holland pitches for Texas. Comment away.

I think we need Sabres game threads ag… :)
Probably, Krueg. Baseball is not cutting it. What a farce of a game.
I’m still too depressed to think about the Yankees…

I know it’s hard to believe, but you do realize they can’t win every year, right?
It’s an endless struggle for perfection. You’ll only suffer. Become a Buddhist.
You could also laugh at the Sox…
This is why I don’t get 100% invested in all of those numbers and projections and so on. I think sabermetrics is awesome and carries a TON of weight. I am not anti-saber, but can any formula have predicted a Texas/Cardinals world series? How crazy is this?
I feel bad for Brewers fans and the team in general. They were making such huge strides and now they are going to lost their best player and probably biggest draw. They will still contend for sure, but losing Prince will be a huge blow.

Cardinals + Rangers – (Sum: Everyone else) = X
Just saying.
In all seriousness, and to reinforce your point John, the Cards were double-digits out of the playoffs on August 27 I believe, isn’t that right? Pretty extraordinary. Like the saying goes, good teams get in, hot teams win. No formula can predict hotness. Unless of course we are talking about the lovechild of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
