Jose Guillen is a Psycho

Ok, so it’s an off night for our teams.  That means I am watching the Mets.  And Pedro’s pitching, so it’s not that big a chore.  A moment ago, Pedro plunked Jose Guillen (his third hit batsman of the evening).  Guillen proceeded to amble towards the mound, bat in hand, pointing his Louisville Slugger directly at Pedro (his bat, that is).  It was many seconds and an extended bearhug before anyone was able to wrest the bat from Guillen’s hands.  Frank Robinson is now asking that Pedro be ejected from the game (there have not been any warnings to this point, so I don’t see how that happens).  The thing is, Pedro hit Guillen with a pitch that was maybe 8 inches off the plate.  Perhaps Julian Tavarez and Guillen can start their own little club.

(while I was typing, Nick Johnson hit a two run jack.  I wonder if this will inspire Pedro to really throw inside…)

  • The Ghost of Zimmer is alive at Shea? It could be a case of possession SF.

  • The Mets fans are just being relentless with Beltran. We’re talking Jack-Clark-in-Fenway relentless.

  • I thought Hernandez was doing ok for the time I was watching. You sure you weren’t watching a repeat of American Idol and caught a glimpse of Paula Abdul, who seems to be more than a little stoned every Tuesday?

  • I’ve tuned back in, and there was just a brouhaha over more hit batsmen. Keith Hernandez is impressing in his assessment of the situation. He’s been blunt and honest, and so far has avoided the homerism that plagues the work of Ken Singleton and Bobby Murcer. Did ChDat tune in at a moment of Hernandez weakness?

  • Yeah, but Pedro (that little bitch) has hit Guillen 8 times in 40 ABs. Guillen is no Zimmer.

  • SF, were you this outraged when Manny went after Clemens, bat in a hand, over a high fastball right over the plate?
