’nuff said. Comment away.
Very soon now…
I have to get up and catch a plane in the morning. I don’t care though, I will not miss a pitch.
Let’s do this.
I just mute the sound so I don’t have to hear the crowd, nor Smoltz and Cal openly root for the O’s…
ARod can’t help but fail.
Kills the 1st inning rally with a DP. Of course.
Cano comes through with a 2-out double and Ichi tries to score…
Ball beats him there but he runs around Wieters, then dives back around the tag and SCORES!!!!
1-0. Cano on 2nd with 2 outs for Swish…
1-0 after 0.5…
1-2-3 for Pettitte.
Then Tex fouls out.
Kurtis strikes again. I’m convinced he just closes his eyes and swings at every pitch…
1-0 after 1.5.
Very easy and dominant inning for their dude.
I wish I could be watching. I have to read the box… sigh.
2 singles and then a walk…all with 2-outs.
Come on Pettitte.
Well, at least we got the first one.
2 out of 3 at home and we’re good.
Down 1-2…bases loaded…1 out…
Definitely going to lose this one.
It’s one thing to get beat. It’s another thing to not show up.
Bats are dead again. Fucking dead.
Yep. Just let Pettitte swing boys…well done.
…and now Tex boots a routine grounder right at him.
Just give them the fucking game I guess.
This looks a lot like last year now. Win Game 1, fail.
Getting dominated by yet another in a long line of scrub, nobody pitchers that will never amount to anything but on a random October night pitched the game of their life…
Or do we just suck.
Everyone swinging for the fences now.
Out, after out, after out, after out, after out…
Goodbye Kurtis. Nice knowing you.
Thanks for all the meaningless HR’s and RBI’s in May against the Indians.
This is a joke.
Damn. 3-1 Baltimore now. Still no outs here in the 6th.
We’re fucked. We cannot score runs.
Last night was a fluke by their closer.
We’re going to lose this series.
Game. Set. Match.
Gotta win a 3-game series at home. I have my doubts.
Yanks couldn’t do it with the bases loaded and one out and here we are, down by two with the threat of a big inning.
Big K on Thome
Nice DP. Let’s go Yanks. A 2-run deficit really shouldn’t be insurmountable. Though we are headed to the 7th, and the O’s have not lost a single game out of 75 or something like that when they’ve led in the 7th. After knocking Johnson down a peg last night, it would be perfect to bring that crazy streak to an end as well.
Jeter is my hero. 3-2.
ichiro can’t get the bunt down Damn.
Still 0-2. Jeter on first. Ichiro battling.
Chen at 111 pitches. Keep him working Ichi.
Thought that was a GIDP but Ichiro is too fast. One out, Ichiro on first.
Ichiro was going and A-Rod fouls it off. Ichiro would have been safe by a mile. Let him get to second A-Rod.
2-2 on A-Rod.
Ichiro going again and A-Rod fouls it off again.
One good swing Alex. Come on man.
A-Rod checks his swing and we’re at a full count. Gotta believe Ichiro is on the move now.
A-Rod K’s. Ichiro takes second. A-Rod, must you be so predictable.
Cano in as Showalter goes to the pen again. Cano coming up with 2 outs. All we need is a single with Ichiro running.
Canoo IBB’d. Swisher can do damage. But will he vs. Matusz…
Wild pitch and it’s now 2nd and 3rd. That could be huge…
2-1 on the check swing.
Matusz throwing very good breaking balls. 2-2 now.
3-2 now. Swish looks like his eye are about to pop out of his head.
Harmless pop fly. And it’s to the 8th.
1-for-33 career W/RISP in the playoffs.
Nice knowing you Swish. You failure.
7 solid innings for Pettitte.
Not his fault. Great game.
Matusz throws two breaking balls right into the heart of the plate against Teix. 0-2…
Bullet by Teix. He is so slow right now he only gets a single out of it.
Martin up. Hero 2 nights in a row?????
Martin swings over that one. 2-2.
That ball was inside. I’m pissed off at that. Smoltz backing him up on that. What a crap strike 3 call.
I don’t even want to watch Granderson. K-factory.
Strike out. He is just hideous with 2 strikes now.
Nunez up while Teixeira grows roots at first base.
Foul pop out after a leadoff single. On to the 9th.
No one expected a sweep. Even if they can’t pull off the comeback now, going to the Bronx needing to win 2 of 3 is just fine.
Leadoff man on. Jones up, Robertson pitching, no outs. That’s a big freaking run on first base. Keep him there David. Very sharp slider – 0-1 to Jones.
Curveball makes it 0-2. Run him on the high heat…come on…
Hasn’t thrown him a single fastball yet.
Swinging bunt moves the runner to second. I thought Robertson could have actually had the man at second given how fast he got to the ball.
Wieters up. Robertson throwing his curve very well. 0-1
0-2 on the curve.
First fastball and Wieters fouled it off. Expect the curve low…just don’t throw it away…
Curve ball grounded to Teix. Now runner is on third with 2 outs. Now that breaking ball could be an adventure. Pressure on Martin to keep the ball in front of him…
Reynolds up and gets the 0-1 heater.
3 straight fastballs. 1-2.
Ks him on the curve. Great pitching by Robertson. In comes Johnson.
Quick out. Up comes Ichiro.
Johnson throwing strikes. 0-2 on Ichiro.
This is setting up for A-Rod to K to end the game. And up he comes with 2 outs.
ARod up with 2 outs.
He’s the posterboy for this team.
Well, maybe we’ll score some runs at home.
I doubt. it.
Basically we’d be down 2-0 if their closer hadn’t choked yesterday.
A-Rod swings at ball 2. 1-1.
A-Rod swings at ball 2. 2-2. Here it comes. Seen this movie a million times.
First ball in the strike zone is fouled off.
A-Rod Ks on ball 4. Shocker. When was his last clutch extra-base hit. I can’t recall…
So now we go home with a shaky Hiroki on the mound and now all the pressure is squarely on the team that cannot handle pressure…the Yankees.
They’ll win on Wednesday. Then Hughes completes the meltdown/implosion/choke-job on Thursday.
I’ll be there on Wed and Thurs, krueg. I won’t let it happen :)
i have no problem with a split on the road, especially since one of them was a 1-run game…these are the o’s, ya know…can’t help but think swisher and arod have psyched themselves out yet again in the post season…i found it troubling that they both made statements prior to the series about how this post season would be different for them, that we the fans, shouldn’t worry…yeah, right…i think they were blowing smoke up their own butts:
arod .111 2 more k’s last nite, 5 for series
martin .167 [get’s a mulligan for having game 1 go ahead HR]
granderson .143 2 more k’s last nite, 3 for series
i know joe can’t drop everyone down to the bottom 3rd of the lineup, but he did with granderson…time to move disappointment-rod out of the 3 hole
Finally got to see a high-def replay of Ichiro’s slide. The guy has more moves than a cat on a hot stove.
I have no problem with Swisher touting his BBs. With everyone else in this lineup, if all he does is take a ton of pitches and get on base, that’s just great. But when A-Rod starts talking about his job being to simply get on base in order for Cano to drive him in, as he did just before the ALDS started, I get frustrated. You don’t make that kind of money to walk to first once a game (if that). And Cano doesn’t need any added pressure to carry this team right now. You need to actually make some contact with the ball. In the post-game last night Singleton talked about how long A-Rod’s swing continues to be, even when he is in pitchers’ counts. he does not look like he has quick hands to the ball, instead he has a big loping home run swing that seems to swing over (or late on) the ball a lot more often than not. Despite my performance during actual game-threads, for which I cannot be held accountable, I really am not an insane A-Rod hater. I think he is still a productive guy who, when he gets on streaks, is terrifying for opposing pitchers. But when he is not on a hot streak, he seems unable to produce, for instance, sac flies or productive outs of any kind, let alone hits with RISP. I have more faith in him than Granderson right now because A-Rod has actually worked some tough counts in the first couple ALDS games here and made some good contact on balls that didn’t find a spot. But I don’t have more faith in him than Teixeira given how they are both swinging right now.
He is also the perfect modern-day, dry-land personification of a Jonah.
i’m glad you brought up the swing…yep, arod’s swing and i think granderson’s swing too seem to be those long, looping, lazy, late swings that rarely make contact…and granderson’s back to swinging at pitches in the dirt out in front of home plate…not good
I read that Swisher is 1-33 with runners in scoring position in the playoffs.. I don’t know if he should be touting anything.
i am reading on espn that moving arod down in the lineup has been suggested to girardi, and he hasn’t ruled it out, but he isn’t confirming it either…probably trying to figure out how to do it without hurting arod’s $30m feelings…
Well, I’ve been traveling all day but twitter is abuzz with the possibility that ARod is getting moved down in the lineup.
Doesn’t Joe have to do this finally? I mean, is this guy bigger than the fucking team??? Of course not. Move him down. His best days are clearly behind him.
We need the Boss back to hire a PI to get some dirt on him to void his contract.
Ah, the good old days…
